Not a Naish though he seemed upset about it,
I'd say admin pulled it as I think it was a first time poster bagging a brand
Justified or not, doesn't make sense to pull a thread if it's a legit post and not some secret agent provocateur.
That said, all boards will snap in the right (wrong?) conditions.
no matter it is first time poster, he took photos of the broken naish and come here to ask, not a troll I think.
First time poster - If I was admin I would bin.
If it was a regular on here who posted with a legit complaint that could be backed up then fair dos.
But....mind that these companies pay this site advertising etc.
Man, it's not like there's never been a thread on seabreeze about a yellow board getting a bit bendy......if you know what I mean!!

Agree.
We so often see someone bagging a company or shop on here, and then go to the company by referal.(breezes)
They often have the matter sorted, funny that

This is a public forum where most people are genuinely here to get info about products etc, if these types of incidents are not highlighted then most people would never know of issues with brands or types of gear. I say stuff the manufacturers, this does appear to be a consistent problem with this brand ( even happened to one of mine ) no I didn't feel the need to post it up, but we pay a fairly high price for gear that is ? of a certain quality and don't always get it. I would say that if people have a problem with others highlighting potential defects with a certain brand then they may have another agenda. Yes you will always get w@nkers who whinge because their cheap board and paddle has fallen apart but hopefully most can read between the lines and use some common sense. How much have the big companies profits increased over the past 4 years or so?, I'm pretty sure posts like this might help to keep them honest for full price paying punters like myself.
Cheers
This isnt a site for the manufacturers! its for the users. I didn't read the thread or what was said, but you cant pull a thread because someone says they have a broken board?? Readers will make their minds up on it. the moderators shouldn't do it for them :(
I heard after his new Mercedes broke it's own axle
, his Iphone 5 smashed its own screen
and His Hewlett Packard laptop's battery (when he wasn't using it
) overheated
. What s-- house luck or cause and effect
. You're absolutely right Mick the claims are always invariably sorted out especially by the big name brands, but what is the definition of a forum then? It's why I hardly post anymore. that and work of course![]()
!
It would be totally disingenuous on the part of the administrators to pull any thread of this nature on a presupposition without
any basis. It does not logically follow that a first time poster claiming to have an issue with a board somehow has an agenda.
What should be of concern here is the devaluing of the forum in order to save face for a manufacturer who happens to be paying
for the privilege of having their logo appear on this board, if in fact this is happening.
Holistically this forum could not survive without a number of major players, one of which represent those organisations who are
willing to advertise here. The other major player is the people who frequent this board and make this the place that it is and who
are deserving of honesty in the absence of any interventionist policy that moderators might have in order to curry favour for the
sake of money.
Lets hope that is the case.

I've only ever seen one sup board snap in the surf. When I say snap I mean completely in half. It was a couple of years ago at Super Tubes off Point Danger.
It was a Naish.
Let's see if they pull this thread.
I've split my own board in half and it was no Naish.
Drop 4,000lb of water on a board and it's going to break.
4,000lb = 2 cubic meters of water

Hey Mick
I snapped my custom glass board out there a few years ago. It wasn't a Naish. The conditions were fairly big that day and I think the lip hit the middle of the board and just compressed it. It took me about an 1hr to get back in with both pieces. The local guy who manufactured the board was really surprised.
Then again I had my full carbon paddle just bend in the surf as I went to paddle out.
Good excuse to upgrade.
James
Yeah Jean, I snapped my 6'9" Klemm Bell custom Kym Thompson (pre Water Cooled) at Beacon in 12ft +![]()
...........in 1973. They went outta business!!!![]()
Oh that's right, I was a little outta my depth![]()

Yeah I know, boards break. The waves were smoking big the day that I saw Carl snap his Naish. I was just curious to see if the thread gets removed because we say something negative about a big brand name board. That's the real issue raised in this thread. I'd love an answer from the moderator.
Waves are powerful and boards are frail........suspect this topic has not been pulled by the administrator if you are still reading it.....which kind of blows your conspiracy theory ?? Suspect you may also believe an alien spaceship crashed at Roswell![]()
I have seen both a Naish and a Starboard in 2 pieces and I creased a big Bic sup. Big boards in the surf without a stringer have a lot of leverage on them when they get hit by a wave in the wrong place. The c4 boards seem pretty strong but everybody wants a light board and i doubt if many manufacturers will guarantee against damage in the waves. Dissapointing if you have just paid big money for a new board but I would love to find a snapped Hokua x 32 in the bin, anything can be fixed with epoxy and cloth.!![]()

How many production boards have stringers........can't think of many?
Probably not many if any! The 9 6 c4 I had said it had 3 stringers but they may have gone to a different construction now from looking at their website. Perhaps new materials/techniques don,t need stringers anymore but they don,t look very strong when they are in 2 pieces. Still I have snapped a few surfboards with stringers too so I,m happy to leave the pro,s to decide how to build them.![]()
i saw the post before it was pulled and it looked legit.
i think you guys have some fair points and i agree but i have seen it all before on the breeze ..first time poster slagging a product/company with only intent on bagging and never to be seen again.
it happened in the longboard room and shortboard room a few weeks ago
i had an issue with a sponsor of the breeze a few months back, i purchased a Fanatic falcon 14' from this company on the sunny coast
payed $2700 good money.i phoned them when the board arrived damaged,i sent photos within hours of delivery.
i got told the board doesn't come insured so we won't give you a new one, but we are fantastic and we will repair it the next time your in town
our repairers are fantastic, until then we'll give you a sticker to cover it...... WTF
its funny that i have bought 5 Boards of the guys down the road at Sunshine Coast sup centre at caloundra and had nothing but the best service from this company and if they sold a falcon i wouldnt of bothered going else-where
they use the same fright company STAR TRACK EXPRESS and the boards are insured + i did receive one board with damage and it was replaced straight away.
So what do i do tell other breezers i got poor service from a breeze sponsor and to be very careful.then be tagged as slagging and have it pulled
or tell people i have had sensational service from another board shop and get called a pimp.
Well i say Fark them they will never get another cent of me and move on.... its that easy.
And I have seen with my eyes a friend's 10'6" Nalu break not in two, but in three! (folded at the front of the pad + 2' forward of it), on 1' mediteranean waves... But it was a second hand board, no way to know he previous abuse it got.
This said, a big deal of bad luck is involved when folding boards. It can happen to any brand/shaper, especially on longer boards. But stringerless without reinforced (carbon, kevlar) rails will definitely be more prone to folding.
Also, some brands have bad batches of boards, so they can get the bad rep of a damaging post forever while the current construction is now top notch...
The best source of info would be your local repairman. He knows what consistently breaks more than average, and some brands definitely do (but it depends of the year).
please read chapter 4 and 8 of this link to understand why any board which is like a beam structure can brake once upon some waves.
books.google.fr/books?id=RB7NcJb7r74C&printsec=frontcover&dq=mecanic+bending+beam&hl=fr&sa=X&ei=M9gRU4KUDeTY0QWHj4H4CQ
Once you get it, in the present case of this yellow board , this is the density or pressure resistance of the foam which is slighty ( very slighty) underrated than the extension resistance of the laminated or tuf work of the cork.
As well as a lot more of bad luck![]()
Really the board breaking isn't the issue. It's the moderators choice to remove the post.........and why. To me the guy seemed ......I stress SEEMED to be legitimate. We all know boards will break given the right forces but guy was stressing the board snapped in benign conditions. Does Naish have a problem with their boards???...... is the guy scamming????......Who the hell knows!
Moderators????

There is no benign condition, either. It can touch from nose on sand leaving no marks and water covered the rest of board can crush the whole part. It happens to me on a nose rider in one foot wave.
But why this topic has been remove ,IMO it's because there is no more SSK shirt to swipe that topic ![]()
I don't think there was any real need to remove the thread. As someone mentioned before, this is a "public forum" where the public should be able to say whatever they feel, provided there's no bullying or indecent profanity.
I really don't think that the reputation of Naish or their amount of sales would have been affected by that post at all. It certainly wouldn't deter me from buying boards from them. They make a great product, but sometimes ** happens!
Freedom of speech people!!!
yes Tomooh, I have snapped an 11' 2" Starboard in what was a fairly easy surf, just dropped down a head high wave which slurped up and folded the board over. It is repaired OK, if unecessarily heavy due to my inexperience.
A friend snapped a near new 10' 5" Starboard caught paddling up a head high wave. Lucky the deck stayed intact. I bought it off him and have just finished repairing it.
As you say, they are long boards and a wave gets a lot of leverage. The question I asked was why do Starboard put compressed foam stringers in their surf boards but not in their SUPs?
I like Starboards and am looking at buying another. I would also buy a Naish. It is the length rather than a construction fault. I am old and 11kg is plenty to carry back up to my car.

I got green thumb before,i was so proud of it before, some one remove it putting some red.
Somebody moderate myself and some one else? So this is his right and he do'esnt have to expressvely explain it .
That is the same moderation ![]()
