Goat, kajgyr is right there though. If you look up the meaning of gay in any dictionary theres a picture of a guy in a C1.
I thought that spot looked familiar. Nelson. Coolest little city in Canada. I thought you were a Kiwi for a brief second doing that video in New Zealand or something
Anyways, you do bring some valid points, especially on the frequently choppy Kootenay lake that gets pretty breezy at times. It's been damn windy this year and paddling into a headwind is part of the deal on this lake. I started a thread about expedition SUP paddling on standupzone.com and it was suggested that a two piece kayak paddle would be good to have on long trips if your primary paddle breaks or you encounter stiff headwinds, and I couldn't agree more. There are companies like Imagine Surf manufacturing plastic expedition style SUPs that have clip on seats, and Imagine, along with other companies are making hybrid SUP paddles that also turn into Kayak paddles now. I have also seen paddle attachments that go on the handle end of a SUP paddle. So, you aren't totally loony tunes after all.
For expedition paddling, a two piece Kayak paddle would be very smart to bring along, because after standing for several hours, it is nice to change position, and you can actually still get some miles in if you encounter a head wind. The foam block looks like it works and could easily be strapped down when you are standing. I prefer the standing position but in the future as I get into longer expedition paddling, I will be sitting down sometimes in headwinds and just to change positions and will probably invest in a kayak or hybrid paddle of sorts.
Keep up the innovation. Whatever works. Btw, I frequently paddle the south end/eastern side of the lake and will look for you and your SUP inventions when i'm in Nelson. Went paddling there in May and it was nicer then than it is now.

l think while you were busy inventing ways to get off the island Gilligan was getting all the action with Ginger and Maryanne![]()
Wanna be careful though....30 years on could be making a necrophiliac out of you if fancy Mrs Howell.![]()
Hi Laurie, OK is it possible for psychologically disturbed Canadians to be at least vetted before making posts on this Forum. Robon obviously has an inferiority complex and is unneccessarily using his obviously wide vocabulary to disguise his poor behaviour and disregard for anybody that doesn't like what he says. I'd say he is trawling on our forum because he's been banned from others. Just analyse his responses and you can tell that although very articulate he doesn't appreciate criticism whether it be constructive or otherwise. Sorry If I offend, but it just seems enough is enough. The forum is about Stand up Paddle boarding/surfing, and his views would be cogent if they weren't always premised with a veiled insult to the intelligence of Breezers.![]()
He's a lovely fella compared to Roy Stuart who frequents in-numerable surfing forums and has the forum spamming capacity of a team of Indian telemarketers.![]()
Roy loves denigrating the intelligence of one and all in no uncertain terms.![]()
Mikeman - it is indeed a fine part of the world I live in. Kootenay Lake (and Okanagan lake, where you were) are incredibly scenic flatwater paddleboarding locales.
Yes, I did a day sail in the lake and wondered what it would be like to do a few tours there on a SUP. It would be pretty cold in winter but was surprisingly warm in summer. The wine from that region is also pretty good.
By the way keep on having a go with your ideas. You will never come up with anything new if you don't try. Australians can be pretty tough on anyone trying to have a go at anything too different. Its called the "tall poppy syndrome". Don't take anything personally either - it is what is is. Good luck.
