Did you have a chance to ride the Hokua 8'3 LE mate. Would be real interested in your thoughts if you did. I have been told they are very light.
Cheers Ozzie

New 14 glide yep.. Unreal super stable being 29 wide, really nice board, cool colours.. The other brands will have to be impressive for me to go for them over the Naish for my first 14" board purchase later this year..
Had all the surf sups out, now our beach is flat water so can't say how they go besides us bobbing around on them in the flat chop tried everything from the 80L 8 something le at 87kgs I just sunk up to the manas the 7"6 30wide one with more volume was awesome fun to paddle around I would think it would be awesome in little beachie breaks
Was a well put on day by the Naish guys and briskites

Is there a bit less nose rocker and a bit more in the tail than the previous?
(or is that not the same board?
)

At last a better pic.. but the bit that I want to see the most is still covered [the nose].. ![]()
Is that the GS or the GX.. anyone know?

DJ it's a more LE jav style nose, much less rocker overall..... Could be quite quick.

Its a GX.
Nose looks similar to the 12'6" Jav.
Rails are kept soft in the first half of the board and sharpen towards the tail.

We forgot to take decent pics of it DJ as every time it came back to shore someone was waiting with paddle in hand to take it out for a ride..
Thanks for the extra pics and info..
I've ordered a new 14' Glide in the GS.. Can't help myself.. ![]()
I wonder how different the GS boards will be compared to the GX boards?

Rode the new 8'3' the other day thanks to ocean addicts . board went ok , need glass fins on the sides to really know , yet to try with fins you can drive off and not side slip. Shape is different , rounded pin , good on the backhand , forehand always a struggle off the top when trying to hook a pin , better down the line . Cant say i liked the inferior construction on the bottom of the board , overall good lightness and easy to stand on at 70kg , miss the flyer and rounded square tail!

I just went to put some money on at my local shop with the view to get a board in the next few months and a guy had the 8'3 which he will be riding for Naish. Couldnt believe how light the board was! I am a fraction over 6 foot but weigh 73kg at most so I am in the same sort of weight as you. I had "heard" the Naish boards had question marks with the construction which I cant figure out as I thought that it comes with a kevlar/carbon compound(?). What made you think mate that it had inferior contruction? Is that from your own personal use or did it perhaps already have dings? I could be wrong but you dont sound totally enthused by it. I have been waiting for this board and the JP 8'2 to try.
Cheers Ozzie
Green Menace,
Sorry mate, I stand corrected he was riding the 8'0 in the Naish but he rode the 8'3 alot and commented that the 8'3 had really good weight distribution, certainly far better than the JP which he has ridden as well.
Cheers Ozzie
The board didn't seem as strong on the bottom as the model above , I enjoyed riding the board , wish it came with glass fins , the top part of the board felt bomb proof , wish the bottom was the same , I am pretty hard on boards

your guys weight will be easy on the 8'3. i had a session on tge 8'5 mana and a mate who is 90 odd kg was surfing the bag out of the 8'3 in confused swell and currents.
ps... at 95-98kg and after testing all the new ones, the 9'0 is still the large lads choice imo.. the 8'5 mana is cool fun too. but if choosing one, id still b on the 9'0... imo :)
Got some photos today of the new glide at Ocean Addicts demo day at cotton tree. Thanks to Luke for the time and setting up the boards.

Any more information on the Mana range (new sizes, shapes, & etc)?
Thanks!
Picked up my new Hokua the other day, I,ve had two small surfs on it with a lot of of cross wind and couldn,t not fault the board, absolutely love it.
BUT
The Naish board cover is absolutely useless, which amazes me. The company has been producing boards since 97 I believe ,and no one has said to them We need to improve the cover?
For example The cover has one over sized handle which is positioned to far forward so when your trying to carry the board the tail ends up dragging on the ground.
It offers very little padding for the small bumps and scrapes sups encounter because of the size of the boards.
To rectify these problems I would suggest handles sewn into the top and the bottom of the cover allowing even weight disruption when carried, heavier padding and maybe a adjustable carry strap sewn in to cover as standard and possibly some Velcro tags to attach paddle.
Come on Naish , Its not rocket science its simple ergonomics
Hmmm, sounds like they've changed the bags again. My 2013 Hokua came with a great bag. Handle in the right spot, shoulder strap and almost as thick padding as a good quality aftermarket cover. The first Naish I ever bought in 2009 came with a pitiful excuse for a cover. They were supposed to be eco friendly of something but were so thin and tight fitting it wasn't worth the effort, so I was rapt with the 2013 cover. Hope they haven't gone backwards again.
Which Hokua and construction have you got?
Alot of companies dont supply board bags, why complain about something that comes for free ?
Kym, the board bag is not free. You pay for it in the High mark up purchase price...
