It will take me a little while to put on the new Tohatsu 9.8 long shaft 2 stroke, and plug up the old hole left by the Bukh so in the meantime...

I spent a fair bit of time up in the Pacific Northwest. Out of Bellingham there is a whole school of thought around throwing the motors overboard altogether - outboards and diesel, and moving back to Oar power. I once temporarily converted my boat to paddle power. I left the lock for the Tohatsu 9.8 in the dinghy when we went for a twilight sail, which ended up in a twilight drift on an outgoing tide. Luckily I had an oar with me. It's damn good exercise!

BTW have you got a photo from the rear of your Northshore of the ladder, looks like that one extends into the water much deeper than mine... making it easier to get out of the water.
