The good news is that I think the mast and maybe the rigging too was beefed up to suit the more rugged Aussie conditions compared to Scandinavian. Once the compression problem is solved you will have a good boat for offshore work.

yes, very true. I intend for this boat to be the last boat, the keeper, after a long succession of 'band-aid boats' over the years. It's amazing how your outlook changes over the parade of boats you own. I actually never did want anything fancy, but in terms of size, I know now very well what my physical limitations are. My lovely little Folky is doable for a 5ft nothing gal!

And offshore, eventually, after the children have flown the nest is what I intend to do.

Same reason I owns a Walker H28 Selkie should be still able to raise the sail when Im over 85 years old and she will be still in good shape

nice looking yacht, clean looking shape , made to look cleaner because of no stanchions and life lines.

not very safe ! would have to be a very good swimmer !

The above picture is interesting in that it shows a way to deal with mast compression. Looks like a laminated curved beam under the deck , and then the stainless verticals.

It is an overpriced boat IMHO, and not sure I like the idea of changing the sail plan. Do that and it is no longer an IF Folkboat.

I am sure you will enjoy yourself immensely once you sort out the few niggly things.
Have you read Ann Gash's book ? She was a mature aged Aussie woman who circumnavigated in a Folkboat in the eightie's. A true inspirational read.
I think the problem with the 'Ripple' name would be people replacing the R with a T, but then again, Tipplers Resort use that with nice success.

The little girl is nearing completion. She's in safe hands being repaired and strengthened by a good shipwright. Mast should go back in next week or the following week.

Have decided to rename her Aria...it's pretty, succinct, it suits her, and I will be singing a lot of solos in her ;)

No...I will need to read Ann Gash's book :)
