Dear All,
I committed the cardinal sin of buying our new boat before getting rid of the old one, so I have listed my little Sonata for sale at what I believe is a great price. However, I am always conscious of what I think may not be always right.

To me, the asking price doesn't even cover the electronics (6K) and sails (3K) I have done over the last two years, but this of course doesn't mean the price people are willing to pay may ever reflect that.

Could you guys have a look at my ad and see if you think this is a good deal or no? Genuinely interested in your comments, I want a quick sale which is not easy to achieve selling boats.

I have listed her on Seabreeze as well, just waiting for them to publish the ad, hence me posting here. Until then, please see below link.
Thanks!
SB

Throw in a few rides on the Pogo and it'll sell in a week.

Good sails, good and decent winches, good electronics and the whole boat looks like it has been looked after well.
I've been keeping my eye out for a while and this, IMO, is an excellent deal. Someone will get a bargain. Unfortunately a bit on the smaller side for my needs - and a long sail away.

I assume that will sell quick. Good luck.

And of course, I couldn't get my eyes off your Pogo. If your ever in VIC and need crew let me know - I'll even bring the beer.

Thanks guys for the reality check, it is good to hear it from fellow sailors.
I am lot happier now.
FR, bugger, I should have thought of that!
Jev, make sure you drop us a PM if you ever get to Bris and we'll drag you out :)
Steve, I almost waded into that, but the S8 is not as much head height as say a Sonata 26 or some of the others so I stayed out of it. She does go well offshore though!
Cheers!

Hi Shaggy,
Price is defiantly good and I would defiantly not drop the price any further. It will be just a matter of time waiting for someone who wants a great little weekender / social race boat. At that price it is still a good buy for someone to buy and freight interstate. There are very few boat round for that money that you can buy and not have to spend more on repairs or upgrading equipment. Most boat at that price are renovator delights. I don't think you will be a fleet owner for long.

PS. When is your first race?

Hold your price Shaggy. She is worth it. A lower price means less gear goes with the boat.

"Intrusion" and now "Fusion"??

What are the future boats going to be?? Confusion, Infusion, Extrusion, Contusion et al.

Nice boat, well priced and really good adverts. The photos will sell this boat. Difficult boat to sell in that size these days with out headroom when there are lots that do in that price range. The thing is though it's a Gary Mull designed boat and will appeal to the racer sailers out there and it only takes one buyer! I would advertise it on eBay for a fixed price [same money]. Lots more lookers and you will get an exact number of viewers listed so you know what interest there is. Advertise on eBay but sell on Gumtree to save on fees.

Can't see it on Yachthub!

Thanks all for the feedback guys, I appreciate it.

Jode5, the first race is the Surf to City next weekend. I don't expect to be up the front, at this stage I am all about learning the boat. It shouldn't surprise me but it does how much I learn every time I step foot on the boat. Barber hauler positions, traveller, and loads are all the big focuses at the moment.
Are you entering Jode5 by any chance?

Cisco, and to make it worse a good friend has Invader, which is a sister ship to Illusion!!! Pure fluke I might add! Try saying all that after a red or two!

Ramona, she has been on Yachthub for a couple of months, 640 views no bites. I did have it initially for 12, then dropped to 10 a few weeks ago, still no bites. Hence the firesale price!

I have had two contacts last night, 1 from Yachthub, one from Gumtree, so fingers crossed. I would like to keep her, but I know I won't sail her as much as I should and paying two mooring fees is a bit painful!

Thanks again all.
SB

HI Andy,
Yes mate, well that's the intent at least! They take everyone's details and ring you this week as to whether you have a berth, I think last time there was a spillover to the berthings next door?
We'll sail down on the Friday going down the inside course, then Sat we've elected for the offshore course to come back.
The forecast is looking exciting at this stage! Strong SE.....
Cheers,
SB

Jode, just in case you need some tempting :) .... an (admittedly early) forecast for next Saturday.
Looks like nice reaching running to the top of Moreton, then maybe?? a chance of a reach before a work down to Shorncliffe.
Hope it stays like this!

Thread drift..but what the hell, it's all about sailing!
Thought this might be interesting to some.

I received with the sail wardrobe for the new boat a great little file called a "sailect" file for uploading into routing software.
It's in essence a polar diagram per sail, but without boat speed. I have polar diagrams for the boat, but they provide speed rather than sail type as the output.

I am practicing at the moment plotting courses for the Surf to City race, so using the sailect and grib file data you input the wind angles and read the results to prep your sail choices. You also have a live input from the sensors, so you can check in real time sail choice.

Really cool if I can get my head around it all, this is the new part for me. Fun though!

Sorry I just can't see the need for this program its windy we need another reef or its windier we need a smaller sail. Yes its good to have an idea of what is coming but planning sail changes well ahead? To many unnecessary gadgets.

I often say that I want to learn the finer points of sailing. MY 'finer' points of course
are just routine things to you lot. But if Shaggy wants to extend his use/knowledge
of the 'finer' points regardless of how it's achieved, because that's where his interest
lies, especially if he wants to adapt these 'finer points' to his new boat in an effort to
get maximum pleasure out of his new toy. Then who are we to discourage him.
Just a thought.!!!.

Looks like we are not doing the Surf to city as the misses just reminded that we are leaving on a P & O cruise to Sydney next Sunday for the Australia day festivities. It is a shame, as it is usually a good race.

IMO... its too cheap!

Its a 12k to 15k boat.

Its a odd thing that we know (often to the cost of the last stainless screw we put in) the true cost of our yachts but than sell them so tragically cheap
