Lots of international Big yachts stop in Cairns as a port of entry and they usualy stick around for a week or two waiting for their rich owners to fly in for a quick holiday on the reef.
The full time crews usualy have more fun than the owners!



The cat once held the round the world speed record under the name "Orange", its now a fast pleasure boat.
The grey mono "GHOST" is spectacular in the flesh (my pics are poor quality) Its 100ft or more and is a pleasure boat not a racer. more pics to come.

Look at the poor punters on this boat...just when they thought they were safe from sitting on the rail bashing to windward, they're all sent aft to the pushpit to keep the boat upright going downhill. When is there time for a nice cup of tea on a mono??

Lots of immaculately groomed buff young French or Italian men to deal with those sails...any pics of the crew??[}:)].

Not to be a party pooper but in the Australian Sailing a few months ago they had a article about Gretel II and how the original owner came back on board for a race in Tassie. Now if you ahve a look at the boat there are no lifelines & staunchions so under the RRS they must wear lifejackets while racing. In the picture they werent.

So it was either a orchestrated photo outside of the racing or they were not confirming with the RRS.

Anyway back to the original post I will take the first one for the wife and kiddies and the TP52 for ****s and giggles. As long as it comes with the ETNZ crew as well.

Call me old fashioned but if I had the money I would much rather one of these:

There's one probably going really cheap about now!! Heard from a mate who just did the Bird Island race on a TP52 that they hit a reef and bounced up and down for half an hour.....ouch. Boat's in a bad way.
