Hi. Does anyone know where to get a product similar to these (butyl glazing tape) in Australia?

www.pbase.com:443/mainecruising/rebedding_hardware

I contacted the Compass guy for info on prices to Aust but he's charging US$60 for postage for up to 5 rolls (5 Rolls = $84.25 + $59.95 = $144.20).

I've searched and searched but only found these: http://arbosealants.com.au/product-category/preformed-mastic-strips/

Anyone had any experience with these? Or think these are similar? I'm new to these products but after all that rain in June I realise I have lots of rebedding to do.

Thanks.

3M Australia seems to not want to know about this product and freight from the US as you have discovered is horrendous these days.

So in your case I would hotfoot it down to the nearest Blackwoods store as they stock two brands of butyl mastic tape to be found here.......

....... www.blackwoods.com.au/gasket-material-packing-seals/bandages-anti-corrosive-pipe-repair/butyl-mastic-petrocote-pcs/tape-butyl-mastic-50mm-x-10m/p/02716566

There is also a butyl mastic available in a cartridge, but boy, is it messy if you're not carefull. (don't ask how I know) available at Bunnings et al.

Of the two that Blackwoods sell, one, the Denso brand is listed as being potable water safe.

Awesome! Thanks Loose.

$105 per roll plus $10 delivery so it's not cheap but I should have it tomorrow. Next time I'll plan ahead and order from O/S (but I think 10 metres should last me a while!).

Have you used this, Loose, for bedding screws and deck hardware and what not?

I had told you not to ask , but since you have ......

I used the soft gooey mastic many years ago in a caravan in which I was resetting the windows. It's an ideal product where you need to have lots of joint mobility combined with the likelihood that at some point in the future you may need to take it apart again. Sikaflex make one as do Selleys and Bostik.

I use a self amalgamating rubber butyl tape to seal satellite dish connections to protect them from the weather. It does not have the name mastic on it. It stretches and seals and cures to a single mass,
I wonder if this is the same tape ?
it is readily available from electrical wholesalers at approx $10.00 for 19mm x 10 meters
