I won't be there either,
We left Cabbage Tree Creek at about 10am this morning (low tide) and got as far as the bar where I managed to run aground. Was trying to back off when the the exhaust note changed and I noticed that there was no water discharge with the exhaust. Engine temp rose quite quickly and I had to throw out the anchor and turn off the engine.
The problem was a jellyfish sucked up into the intake but by the time all this was resolved we were well and truly aground with wind and waves pushing us up against the southern bank.
We eventually sought help from VMR Sandgate but we did not get free and back to my berth till about 16.30.
Not really in the mood by then and I want to really check the boat out before I head out again.
I think I will get a diver to check out the keel before I head out again.

I have touched a few times going in and out of Cabbage Tree Creek but first time that I have needed assistance to get off.
Probably would have been OK if I did not have to turn the engine off at the worst possible time.

Heading for Moreton island. Weather is good and Deb has desided to come. Wind is only 6 k and sea is calm.

I set off at 6am yesterday and expected to arrive Lucinda Bay early afternoon but had major engine problems south of Caloundra, so I had to decide go on without a motor or turn back to Mooloolaba and fight my way into the northerly which I did and sent a radio message to the coast guard for a tow to my slip, arrived back around 5:30pm.

I was really looking forward to meeting everyone, but hopefully another time.

Anyhow enjoy your time together on Moreton.

saw you on the 7 news ,I think it was 7, from above and was hoping it was not a seabreezer . Glad everything was ok .
Did you see a chopper overhead? Drones are now being used in certain situations now.

I did see the chopper overhead but made sure I was hiding under the awning as I did not wish to be identified by anyone that knows me.
Going down to the boat this morning with a waterproof camera that I will try to rig onto a selfie stick and get some footage of the keel to see if I have done any damage.

well pretty good adventure and was nice to met everyone in person.

the most notable thing was the rollie anchorage. holy crap it was like a fair ground ride. poor dave was sick quite a few times. no sleep had by all. I lost hold about 12am, but quickly recovered. must say as well I had a few to many beers by that stage.. not good seamanship!


hope sunny coast guy made it back up safe and sound.

thanks jode for giving us an awesome experience in your fantastic boat. no rollie anchorage issues for you. I came home singing the praises of a larger vessel to my wife which mostly fell on deaf ears.

I finally used my VHF for the first time and it was not as scary as I had thought. ( yeah some weird anxiety about broadcasting my voice over the airwaves which is strange as I type on a public forum )

and thanks to seabird for doing most of the organising and getting the seabrezze tee's.

Jode what an awesome boat, I though they only existed in movies
My gosh what a rollie night, I've got vinyl covered mattress with a sheet on, I kept sliding around in bed all night, with not much sleep at all
Made it back to Mooloolaba safe, my biggest sail so far, took 9 hours, halve way along bribie island the wind dropped of, so motor sailed the rest of the way
Glad you recovered from drifting Bubbles, and glad we didn't sleep on the beach could have been a disaster

After a rough night due the strong southerly change we had a great sail home today in 15kts @70'.

The change came in very quickly we were sitting around the fire on the beach and I notice the smoke change direction, by the time we got back to the boats it was blowing 20 kts.

It was good to meet up with a few Seabreezers despite the conditions it was worth the effort.
Great to watch a magical sunset around the fire.

Hope we can do it again next year.

I am very pleased to hear the weekend went off well.

If we are going to make this an annual event, I am in for 2016 coming from Bundaberg.

All coming in a post soon. Getting pics and vids from camera to puter is complicated for me.

Hi...actually the FB post from Eerp was on the 1st December..I have gone through Eero's Fb timeline and he has previously posted Horoscope posts prior well back into October so it was probably him on he 1st December.
