Hi David
What would the chance of having a rolling start for the minis as i believe ALSA only have standing starts at the Nationals.
Any other minis in aggreeance with this suggestion.I know of at least 5 Blokarts coming from Vic that rather start like this.

This is a very good question Port especailly if we have any of the Blokarters that have limited mobility disabilities turn up. We need to have a start that is fair and equitable to all.

I'm not sure mate, Its in the middle of Ayre Peninsular, a long way from the coast, so there won't be the reliable sea breezes. Its a little to far off to get any forecasts from BOM at this stage. I'd just take all of your sails to be sure.

BTW as you're passing thru from Vic, do a search on googlemaps for "Parham" and check it out to the north. I've never been there but it might be worth a recon and a couple of hours stop on the way there or back. Think I'd better go for a Sunday drive and check it out.

KABOOM!! hey Hillsy that was port, he sailed a bit too far North and West of Parham.

For those not from SH, there is an active military firing range in this area, with lots of unexploded ordnance, most buried just below sand and mud surface.

Shame A.L.S.A SHAME!!

To run an event & treat/talk people the way you did you should never run an event again. You should also step aside from your tasks within A.L.S.A as there are people out there who will push the sport in the right direction.

When A.L.S.A took their bat & ball home & called the event off on Sunday morning?? Shame, Shame!!!

A.L.S.A you need to refund all money that you collected for this event!!

Words can not express the pilots briefing, the rules that were made up during that brieing, the disrespect towards Class 6 Blokart pilots.

A.L.S.A committee you need to put aside your political views as this is not needed at these events.

oops, yeah I guess I should have mentioned that

Hopefully theres still a sailable area out front of Parham. A recon is definitely in order.

Does this mean there was no National event? No AGM? No new ALSA committee? Pity I could not be there.

Class 5 did not complete any races.
Blokarts and minis completed 2 races in ultra light winds. These two races were tallied to produce a result - Ben from MBC 1st in his racing blokart, Val from LLLCS 2nd in her producation class blokart (go girl!) and Graeme from MBC 3rd.
No AGM.
No new ALSA committee.

On a more positive note on Sunday evening the "stay-to-the-enders" had a fantastic group dinner under the stars with everyones left over food from thier esky's. We had bbq, salads campovens and more - enough food to sink a battleship. Good wine and good company and a gentle breeze!

Hey welcome back, its been quiet here without you. Bugger about the wind and, by the sounds of things, a few personality conflicts. Never thought that would have happened in the landyachting scene I've heard reports elsewhere that others had a good time. Tell us more, got any photos???????

Hi All

I hear through the vine that there was quite a NEGATIVE display put on by certain people from ALSA towards Blokarts, certain people were notably rubbishing the Blokart product, but soon changed there tune when it came time to put there sails up, Blokarts 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in class 6, I here they even " LAPPED the PHEONIX " on a 2 lap race, well done Blokarts

I also heard that ALSA got that pooee that they packed up there tents on Sunday and went home, well done ALSA that sure is one hell of a way to run a National Event,

The mini racing was a cracker to see. the day before minis and blowies were neck and neck in practice. next day in light winds the 5.5m sails came out. .
I can confirm that in light winds with all the bling and carbon fitted a blowie will beat a lefroy mini.but not every time!. Bill Finch managed to pip ben at the post by a few metres in the second race.
The most notable effort was by Val Murphy in a old production blowie who led race 2 to the last mark and claimed 2 3rds for the weekend.
She beat me both races so I must now acknowledge that I can no longer claim the title of Australias second best landsailor and must pass that honour onto Val .
That just leaves me with the Internationally renowned designer Title.

Hi Guys,
Been following the discussions from the nationals. Also checked out the who is ALSA forum. I actually emailed David as an ALSA delegate about the agenda for the meeting. I received no reply. We were not able to attend, but would have liked an input. We also were not notified officiailly about a AGM or the Nationals (so called Nationals). I am the secretary of our club and thought all official notification would go through the secretary. I agree that things need to change and it will have to be done at another nationals and maybe we need to hold it in another state. The nationals I gather were held by S.A. not ALSA so the committee cannot be blamed about the running of the competition, however if the issues that are concerned by some were not competition related then that is different.

Hi Donna
The Nationals were definetly run and organised by ALSA,for conformation check out the entry form.As for getting any response from David Rose after many attempts deamed too hard so gave up,i had a fair amount of info from Hills,Landyacht and Promo which was enough to get us to Lake Gilles. For the good of Landyachting in Australia ALSA committee need to address some major issues within the sport and do it quick.
We as Blokarters would like to be included in future ALSA events but after the bungled attempt at Lake Gilles would need some pretty good promises to return, considering it was a national event the turn out was pathetic all round with Blokart on board at these events we could swell the numbers to around the 100 mark perhaps.

Hi Graham,
More people would have come from W.A. if we had more time to arange a trip over. A group of us travelled over last easter and made it known that we would do the trip every two years. And also it would be nice if others made the trip over to W.A. the year in between. There definately was not enough notice of the event being a National title. David said it was from a W.A. sailor that the easter weekend be made a nationals, but who I don't know ,and it was supposedly only one sailor, not a group. People need longer to arrange leave and to safe the money for such a trip as larger yatches nead a bit more effort and money to drag around. This whole event realy did come out of the blue for us.
