Wow that's a very generous offer thanks Jester!! If I was local I'd definately grab one as we can recut them for our minis. I'm sure some of our QLD members will take you up on the offer.

Thanks again for thinking of us!!

Just hang about there Bazl. I happen to be Johnny on the spot here and the someone Jester was approached by. Don't worry mate, there will be something for you.

Elliot Heads is a beautiful spot 15km south of Bundaberg where the Elliot River (mainly a tidal inlet) meets the ocean. It has long been a favourite spot for the windsurfers and more recently the kite surfers. Not real flash for sand sailing unless it is blowing S/E and you have a tinny to get over to Dr. May's Island (about 2 acres in size) situated in the mouth of the river.

When you do that, it is exciting enough for the local kite surfing teenagers to swim the river and ask "Can I have a go??" Then when you give them a go they won't let you back in.

To continue the story, there was a whole bunch of wind and kite surfers, most of whom had travelled many kilometers and filled up the caravan park at Elliot Heads over Easter weekend. Well the wind just did a bunk on them as it did to me. That was where I met Jester for the second time cause there weren't no sailing going on for nobody. We was all just chewing the fat on the beach. You get that sometimes. Heard it was a bit like that at Gillies at the same time.

Just some more adventures in Paradise. Adios Amigos.

OK Guys, I'll pass on anything I have no desperate need for after it has been filtered through my filthy fingers.

Won't know what is there until Wed or Thur next week. If plenty comes in I will post details and photos. No more requests till then please.

Looks like it is Cisco first, then Bazl, then Hills, then Kody.

With photos I will attempt to do comparison shots with a 4 metre blokart sail to illustrate shape and size. So cross your legs and hang on to your willy till then.

Adios Amigos.

OK Hillsy, You can stop jumping up and down now. You are starting to look like a blurr.

Three have arrived. I have photographed them with and without blokart sails on top for comparison. I have written down details and have traversed Bundaberg to find the best price on freight. All will be posted tonight after getting photos from camera--> computer--> site --> post.

I am relinquishing my position at the head of the que. This is not because the sails are no good. They are very good as you will see. The donor said one of them had never been used.

My project is still in the conceptual stage and I have two blokarts. No need yet!!

They should probably go to where they will be appreciated the most, ie to whoever has a project yacht under construction and will need a sail soon.

Honesty system now invoked but original order of hands up still standing. I'll let you guys decide.
There is a North Sails 6.6, a Gaastra Course Slalom Pro, 5.7, and a Gaastra Course Slalom Pro 4.7.
Freight from Bundaberg to Brisbane or Rockhamton $30, Adelaide Metro or Mt Gambier $70, Perth Metro $80 and Kalgoorlie $120. (rounded up to nearest unit of $10).

Photos and details in the next three posts.

Sail No 1, North Sails 6.6, with VTS (visual trim system), full battens, allen key tension adjustment, would suit Kody's 6'2", 135kg and non class conforming yacht.

Sail No 2, Gaastra 5.7 Course Slalom Pro, full battens, strap and buckle adjustment and plastic yokes at mast end of batten to fit over mast. I would suggest it would be best used with a windsurfer mast and boom on a non class conforming yacht, but that will be up to you. This one compared to a blokart 4m sail. I think the size of blokart sails is nominal not actual.

Sail No3, Gaastra, 4.7 and all as per the 5.7 but this one compared to a blokart 3m sail. The 4.7 and 5.7 are identical except for about 6" more luff to leech depth and about 8" more height. Hard to see the square metre difference but that is how they are marked. I am sure Paul could give the best advice on recutting if any.
Both the Gaastras are in excellent condition but this is the unused one.

So Guys, As I understand it Kody gets the 6.6, Bazl the 5.7 and Hillsy the 4.7.

If all are agreed on that just private email me for address details and payment of freight.

If I can find the right guy here, there might be more to come.

Cheers from Cisco.

The 6.6 will be a bit of a bugger to recut as there is only monofilm in the sail, but the others should be OK. I will scan and post the basic instructions I drew up last year based on the sails I have had a go at. the 5.7 should come down to 5m, and the 4.7 down to 4.3. I have had no luck getting the cam systems to work and usually put screw on batten cups to tension against.
A great score fellas. Your freight prices are pretty much on the ball

All done guys and no big deal. Enjoy. Gratitude will be passed on to Jester (Steve) who happens to be on a job in Mt Isa at the moment poor bugga.

This all having been done, the thread need no longer exist. Maybe you could ask Laurie to remove the thread Hillsy??

I suggest that a new thread be started on the construction page as a sticky called "The Sail Shop" or "The Sail Exchange".

As sails occasionally become available, details could be posted to that thread and as they will probably be dealt with in a short time span, the posts deleted to save cluttering the site.

Just a thought. Adios Amigos!! "Yeah, me toos!!" says Pancho.

next time you lay sails on top fit them on the trailing edge and we can see how much to cut off. Great to see this little effort happening

The 6.6 I thought could do with the top batten removed and the excessive roach at the top trimmed off. The luff curve didnt look too extreme. Is monofilm the clear material in the sail? I guess so.

I pushed my 4m blokart mast up the mast pocket of the 5.7 Gaastra sail with some diffulty due to the sail induced mast bend.

Am very interested to see your recut recommendations Paul, assuming that a fibreglass or carbon fibre mast will be used.

The freight company is FASTWAY Couriers and the prices rounded up to the $10 to cover my petrol to the depot. Given the price of the stinking stuff these days I might still be dudding myself.[}:)]

I like your Sail shop idea Cisco, perhaps we should put a post in the windsurfing section saying if people have old sails and masts that are no use to them, then they could post them in here. They might get a few more bucks from us than they would from other windsurfers. (especially if Lefroy minis and other new designs become popular)

G'day Hills,

If its OK with Paul I've got a couple of his sails at my place you can look at for comparison. My current sewing machine isn't up to much, but we can at least see what you can get out of your sail.

Cheers, Bill
