dont know what i am doing , but ive done it again

couple of shots of my brake actuator lever and bracket

in position for welding. Slightly tilted about 15 degrees

forward so as the brake will at rest, will not be resting on the drum,

may need a bit of shock cord as a fail safe, tests will decide.

I have seen what my artist has in mind for the sails, it's great

should be able to post pics a mth from today

Pull handle back to rear of yacht to engage, this apply's

poundage to the belt which slows the wheel. Two independant brakes

so maybe some sort of brake steering will come about.

My brake belts will be made with discarded seat belts material

and or snatch /tye down straps. Checked regularly for wear

but not used for massive heavy braking unless panic....ed

the draw of the Teddy Bears Picnic, so i bought them, cast off city kids stuff.

and i will redistribute them [14] along the way to the bush kids.

Once upon a time men came on horses and had hard boiled lollys, yummy , yummy,

and our teeth fell out, we had discovered sugar. Now nuts with yachts bring Teddys.

So on the first 1500ks of my trip by car, to the kick off point i will be travelling north from home

up thru Orroroo, Hawker. Leigh Creek, Marree, Birdsville, Boluia.....then........

I will drop off in all sorts of places a Teddy for the local kids to find...called recycling

Many places you must have gas, open ground fires not allowed. Campfires can be a problem

timber round popular camp spots has been exhausted, a bit like India , not a good thing. Other spots

national parks or similar may supply some wood for cooking , but they can get shirty when irresponsible's

set fire to the wood heap cause they be cold or like a big fire. Many experienced people carry fire wood with

them to where they will camp. others just get the chainsaw out and rip rip woodchip to please themselves. the amount

of people using natural resources is a heavy burden on fauna homeland, so i just prefer the gas for me cuppa and a

quick cook up, rug up and go to bed , watch the stars for something real...... ......play a Ukulele

There is NO backup crew. there is only I. testing has been done over about 10 years

as different builds have been incorporated. It is all here on Seabreeze, landyacht forums

you just have to backtrack and a name change as a computer failure left me unable to

enter, the old name being walkaboutjoe. It is not new, just a continuation of what i like to do

i have no problem with what i do as my work life has given me the experiences and knowledge i use

failure is subject to personal perceptions, i don't have a problem with that, i am a free thinker, not

constrained by being out or inside the square. As we move along more will be appearing in print,

Good luck with your fantastic adventure. May I recommend that you purchase an EPIRB in case of emergency. You may not know your exact position, but with an EPIRB they will find you anywhere.

steady, steady blokes, all the areas where i will be in are areas in which i first traveled, WORKED

in the sixty's and again in the late 70's. This to me is a review trip and has modernism since i was there

they even maintain the roads where once were tracks. Many locals travel here regularly and adventurous visitors

pass thru and occasionally set up fishing holidays away from the world as most people understand it.

i would love to be able to afford all the flash yuppy style gear, gps, eperbe , satphone, ipads etc but that would mean that

i would have to carry lots of extras, such as chargeability goods, more weight , expence, would need backup and probably

an extra person whom wouldn't have my time and association, they would become bored [4 mths target] and argumentative.

I have witness many people in remote places winging all the time, driving other party members up the wall only to go home

and tell everyone how great it was. They should never left their home environment.

my basic wish is to honor the people who did this same trip on horse or camel back as part of their life, the unsung heroes

As i was involved in mapping this very same area, i do have the very best maps over $200 worth which many Australians never

see or understand the scale is 1;250,000. There are many local workers hereabouts in this day and age and on weekends they wander a

few hundred ks to and from their local pubs and supply towns, and their favorite water hole to fish it will not be lonely.

Lotsa local use aircraft and they follow the roads as navigation, the roads travel mostly from point to point. I would expect

to experience some bush landing drop inn for a yabba, that's how they do it put the aircraft down on a two wheel track

with tricycle undercarriages, Now i dont wish tp preach but there is much mythology about outback Australia, the media love it, and people are already

warning me about the bloke from wolf creek, saying he's out there somewhere but we {?} don't know where

Well i just wish to experience it as those originals did, as new as possible and safe too.........

Many ks of my route i have driven 40foot tourist coaches down with 40 peoples on board, they loved it too

edit.....Let me be the first to say..." I could fail " but i think not. What a wonderful way to get away from the bloody

football, tv and the southern winter...

thanks Sylk, appreciate your well meaning thoughts and you have put them up here, but i am completely in my comfort zone ,

my homeland, it can not see Indigenous with eperbs in their homelands. If i was out to sea in any boat or wandering the high

wooded country i would carry one and use if necessary. So I appreciate your concern and comment. I have posted here so

that all can see and maybe understand some of Australia taboos and miss information. If some one don't have my background

and training, maybe they can understand a bit better the thought and preparation, that is required when travelling Australia
