That is one of the areas that could be a challenge, but I still have to build a new mini so I hope that that can be overcome. Just checked I have 6" clearance about the same as my class5 and the wing may have to go forward a couple of inches to compensate for the shorter front

seeing how its all plywood I think it should be called "MOSQUITO"

just remember to leave enough room in there to steer with your shoes on. I have a yacht at home that i can only steer with bare feet

Or use hand steering.... Most Ice yachts do, Blokarts do, DN class yachts do.
If you went hand steering, kayaks could be used as yacht bodies, With feet steering you need to be able to move your feet as well as your legs and knees.

Now where should the wing be placed on the body, the best info I can find is that 30 to400% of the wing should be behind the rear axle.Any one have any other info as once it is fitted is will be difficult to move.

I have found that my wings want to be located with 30% to 40 % of their area behind the center of the runner plank . If they are located further forward the front end washes out due to side loads. If it too far back the rear end washes out. I prefer the rear end washing out before the front. It seems like the smaller the boat the more critical this becomes. Smaller boats are trickier to get balanced right because the front end gets very light because the runner plank has to moved forward more. That makes the front end even lighter. On my new ST 40 boats I'm trying to place the runner plank 30'' from the rear of the fuselage(the end of the seat back) to keep more weight on the front end.I will make the runner plank location adjustable as well to find the perfect spot for balance. On Wingnut 1 I had moved the plank to about the 34'' forward. This did work but I'm afraid a heavier person than myself may have a hard time keeping more weight on the front end. Especially getting in and out of the boat when body weight is furthest back. To compensate I'm going to rake the wing back about 23'' at its tip. This puts about 35% of the wings area behind the runner plank center line.

Locating the main wing controls. I have placed my main wing control pivot point with 28 % to 25 % of the area in front of the pivot. The location of the side hound for and aft plays a big role in this equation. I have built the side hound tang 2.5''x 2.5'' with multiple attachment holes for and aft to fine tune the pivot location. If the pivot is too far back the wing will not want to sheet out by itself . If it located too far forward it wants to sheet out too easy and there is more stress on the main wing control. There are many variables for locating the bottom pivot point to get in the 25 to 28 % range . Its just a matter of drawing a side view of the wing and adjusting the side hound and main wing pivot location to suite your needs

building that now, Waiting for a 10tooth sprocket to arrive. The t section allows for plenty off adjustment for and aft at the top of the wing.

It may well be outside of any Class Rules but if it works then you at least you can say I came, I built and I flew Great stuff and if there is any LIP outa anybody then you can always throw dawn the Gauntlet.
