FINALLY!!!!! Got some time to finish the thing off. Pics show a 4.0 sail on it. I have additional sails too. the sail isn't high enough on the mast in the pic; it needs an inch or 2 to keep the wrinkles out.... Can't wait for a good day!

All of the above and more. I doubt that you will need another Sail. I'd like to see what Paul has to say about it but I think you are gunna FLY, speaking of flying; Haven't you got a Flying Pig to fit???

sail height is perfect, you just need to move the sheeting on the boom forward till its pulling evenly front and back, that will get rid of the wrinkles on the luff

No pics, but I took the easy fix. I shortened the mast step pipe by a couple inches, and if I need to, I can raise the sail a couple more

And of course you bell mouthed it while you were at it didn't you, or did you not??

If you did not you might have a snappy yacht with a snapped mast.

The tube has the last half inch or so tapered out to the edge to create the flare. the outside diameter of it has to stay intact in order to fit in the base. There is also a carbon fiber windsurfer mast extension inside the mast to help spread out the load.... I hope...

DY, I don't know how far up inside the Lower section of the mast you have taken the inner reinforcing section but I hope it is at least 1/3rd of the length or perhaps 1/2. My foray into those realms lead to a catastrophic collapse of the lower section in a Spin out. My reinforcing only went 500mm and then a further piece was about 250mm inside that.. Not a show of crushing but the stiffness suddenly ceasing was the downfall. Which ever way you look at it I finished up with the mast snapping and tearing my sail.

In the spin out that snapped your mast, did you have your sail fully sheeted in or did you leave it loose as if left loose it is the sail snapping side to side that snaps the mast and/or tips the yacht over
Next time you spin out keep that sheet rope nice and tight. On my last spin out it was amazing how much time I had to think about what I was doing and to actively haul my sheet rope in.

you might have had too much stiffening with the 2 pieces.
or as tp1 says did you have the sail out,and goosewing it.
tp1 slams his 30% carbon 2 piece , every time he smacks down, and im stuffed if i know how it survives

finally got her out to the dez, but not enough wind to sail as long as I could stay... I forgot to add the additional link to drop the sail head down; it should be perfect soon.. I still have larger sails in the building queue....[}:)]
