I added some seat mounting tabs, and painted (it's almost 90 degrees F here, and dry) it. Not sure I like that particular red, but the price was right.

PS; I've been studying the Mast Step set up.. It is going to give you one Hell of a Range for fine tuning for different sails etc.. You probably should have at least a suit of 2 sails for the machine Light to medium Winds and Medium to Heavy/Speed Sail.

PSS; Just were abouts are you located Desertyank?? Western Australia, South Australia?? The soil there could be anywhere in rural mainland Australia but your Wife/Partner keeps a nice Flower Garden.

I live pretty close to El Mirage dry lake, just east of Los Angeles county, in the US of A. I have 5 sails at the moment, and I plan on adding another one once I get an aluminum mast for the beast.

sounds nice anyway Gila Monster (G sounds as a rough H) depending on its handling.

DY, on Schrodingers Cat seat I used 3ply, 2 layers, Glass between layers and also overlaid. Take your time and it certainly helps to create a couple of specialist tools to compact the Glass layers together. I make a metal disc type Roller with .5 inch tube spacers and washers on a bolt and a Wire Handle and one made from a large single disc to get into tight corners. Getting a good wetting of the wood base is imperative.the wood doesn't have to be strong as you get your strength from the Glass Fiber Matt. I used a single layer between the Ply layers and triple on the Outer Layers. Cloth laid first then Chopped Matt and another of Cloth on top well compacted together the Top Layer was laid diagonal to the first layer.. Hopefully this will help you.

Looks pretty cool. A very neat finish for this seat would be faux red brick. I got the idea by looking at the rear left quarter of your seat that kind of looks like a brickwork pattern. Would look neat with the red frame and bonus...you won't have to finish as smooth.

The tubes are 1.5" chromoloy with .093 wall thickness. Pretty stiff stuff, but has a nice bit of flex too. We'll see

The seat feels pretty good, hopefully it will be good at speed too....
