Boom arrangement looks clever.
After sailing today and having a ball with my new sail(yay) on the 'A' it occurs to me that my little mast section I intend to use may not be long enough for a Mini.
Currently I have 2.4m of usable length and sail to match that length. Not sure it is going to be tall enough.
How high is a Bolkart mast? If it were similar to that I would be happy enough.
I don't really want to chop up the long section at this stage if I don't have to.
Any suggestions?

looks like I have just sourced a windsurfer rig from a 'squirrel'. On your original suggestion this is the best way to go for sure. The 'A' mast can be developed during the year after I get my wings and actually get the chassis rolling down the beach.
Your suggestion of the round pipes up the wing section is good, and I may have just spotted another broken carbon wing mast in a friend's yard that is a tad longer. Here's hoping. 3Kg and about 3m I think.
Failing that, I have no problems chopping into the longer section now.

So, what's a decent length for a standard fibreglass mast? 3.6m? or 4?

The windsurfer masts I have seem fairly standard and in good condition, despite being in the boatyard for many years. Covered up enough to stop the UV getting to them, I guess. The blue masts taper well and seem fairly whippy.

Which leads me to the question of how much deflection is typical for a mast?

My A Class mast was measured for deflection with a 20Kg mass suspended off the end with the other end held down, and a pivot at 50%. That way a comparison can be made with other setups.

Maybe we could do a similar thing?

Still struggling to find a decent length of main pipe. I don't want to use the fence post/water pipe I have as the wall seems way too thick. It weighs a ton. Bunnings now sell 50mm round fence pipe but I'm not too keen on that either.

Any suggestions?

Ive yet to find a suitable tailshaft material in Oz. its all very thin walled and a large diameter. the 50mm fence post from B - is it 50mm nominal bore and actually 60mm OD ?. is there anywhere that sells fencing supplies other than B. have you been to the local council yard and asked if there are any bent street signs, have yoy tried a scrap yard . they usually have huge steel piles with nice bits sticking out. Have you tried running over a suitable street sign( no dont do that)

Street signage is 60mm x 2.5mm wall. I built the Chassis of Occum's Razor from it but i used 60 x 3.3mm Wall for the Axle part of the "Y" frame as it was a closer internal fit to the CF Axles I used. It has copped a bit of rough treatment along with the CF Mast and Axles, like this morning when I shot off the side of the Strip at 68Kmph into the rough. my Mast is 100% CF and seems to stand up well to excessive shock force, like a 15 to 30+Kph Gust. All but instant 68kph. Had I not been Belted in and had a rubber mat under me OR may well have shot out from under me

Occum's Razor comes in at 48Kg and I don't know what Schrodinger's Cat comes in at but it is definitely lighter.
If you want to you could go for Bris Kites Rims. They look good and come in several different widths though there is a bit of a delay in New Arrivals, mind you they are pricy at $99 a throw. The one I have on OR is a 2.5" Wide Rim and you can pick up tires from Mullins Wheels in Campbellfield, vic.

Paul has his doubts about Aluminum but these are Tropic Coated for beaches and if you CLEAN then after use and maybe give them a light wipe over with INOX or WD40 they shouldn't corrode too badly.

You may well be right about using them as Rear Wheels but I did qualify by stating there are different widths. Believe me ( I will post Pic's) I am running my front tire at 35PSI and with the treatment I am giving it in the name of Land Yachting is Harsh as I am cutting the shoulders out in high speed turns and Power Slides not to mention heading for the bush. I forgot to mention that had I not been Belted in and have a mat under me the Razor would have shot out from under me, so much was the acceleration. I insisted on using the Narrower Rim for the Steering as it would offer less resistance to turning and balloon the Tire a little more. I would be happy to use it on a Salt or Clay Pan any time. The Tire has not offered to Roll at any point. Which reminds me I will have to let it down to 15 to 20PSI and see what happens,, I suspect very little, maybe a little more grip.
