Is there room in there for you? pull the throttle(rope) in a bit, and tension the mast towards the rear. Should show the thing in top gear.

What does it look like with the mast only in the top part of the luff?

I think you may just be able to get away with not recutting the whole luff, because this is such a big sail (and most of the bend is down low, below the luff cutout area).

This would mean having to extend the luff for the foot of the sail, but I think that would be much easier than recutting the entire luff.

I could very well be wrong though, just a thought I had yesterday.

Yes, blocks will be changed to bigger once.

Just a suggestion to protect your masts from damage by the mast step.

It looks like you have a bit of clearance between your masts and steps and even though you have bell mouthed the mast steps it is still a high pressure point on the masts.

If you get a length of PVC plumber's drainage pipe 40 or 50 mm diameter and about 25-30 mm longer than the mast step and put it around the bottom of your mast as a cushion it will help against damageing the mast base.

If the pipe is not a neat fit you can split it along one side to make it bigger or smaller with the split at the front of the mast as pictured here:-

Nice job on that North sail vjs. Almost looks like a bought one.
Is that wooden stick the only thing holding up your mast? If so I think you had better re-look at that. I would recommend the fibreglass mast plugs into a larger sized steel tube welded to or slotted over the one on the yacht now. That wooden stick will not last 5 mins.
