OK,... The bolt in the steering head (or steering pin) should have its centreline intersecting with point the tyre touches the ground. The angle of that centreline to the ground should not be less than 30 degrees. It can be more than 30 degrees as drawn in my sketch, but must always point at that tyre/ground contact patch. Unlike a bicycle which has a bit of caster to keep it in a straight line, a landyacht is always getting pushed sideways, so if you had a bit of caster effect you would be fighting to hold it in a straight line. The steering must be totally neutral.

that makes sense. Doesn't the bottom of the knuckle also need to be below the center of the tire, so that that steering snaps back to nuetral when you release the stering mechanism?

If by "knuckle" you are referring to the "steering head" the answer is no. A lot of the larger classes of landyacht prefer a much steeper pin angle as these two in the picture below.
