The easiest way to find the campsite is to go past Port Latter " the big big industrial looking monstrousity " keep heading towards Stanley and the turnoff is about 1Km on your right.

As you turn off the main road stick to your right and thats the camp grounds.Head to your left and you are basically at the Eastern most end of Peggs Beach.

You can't miss it.

Hey Smegs, you actually been out?
Just did the burnie 10 run, pretty sad for a kiter, that was fun but the kite on Saturday at turners beach was great... Just maybe not the best prep for a run. Don't care.

The only kiting I've done since march has been in the north.

See you soon John, perhaps Hobart area will be good again...

So, got a session in at cremorne yesterday to get the cobwebs out for the ducks weekend, however feel like someone has taken to my upper leg with a baseball bat. Could be torn hamstring, quad or / and groin. Hopefully not and just strained but think I may be in some trouble.
Still keen for this weekend, where is good on a south westerly up stanley way? Looking at late afternoon Friday arrival. May pack a fishing pole, beer and cameras in case I'm incapacitated. **** load of ibuprofen as well. Swwweeeet

Looks like w/sw for Friday and Saturday, apart from heading to greens, what's the best place to sail.

And is anyone going to be there Friday from around lunch time on, cause if I go I will probably leave by 7.00 so get there about 12 to 1

West inlet from cemetary, east inlet at gullibers rest, cable station over the other side of greenhills stanley aka hellfire.

Surf west coast if you like.

Plenty of spots to go.

Crew will be there around that time on Friday. Setting up tents and other important things.

Think ive been over the cable station before. Really shallow water??

Pretty sure the campsite has the big sheltery thing??? If so i wont bring my gazebo'y thing, but probably can throw it in if required (more room for toys).

As Sam said:

East inlet at mid to low tide. It is SUPER gusty near the shore. Generally pump up and walk out onto a sand bank before launching. Kite in the channels

West inlet is sweet, but need to be launching an hour or so before high tide. Pump up in the cemetery then climb down onto the mud flats to launch. BUT REMEBER, THIS IS OUR LOCAL. DO NOT DO THIS IF THERE IS A FUNERAL (or mourners). We do not want to lose out launch spot. A down winder on the outgoing tide to hellfire is pretty cool.

Hellfire we don't kite very often any more, but it is the best spot for beginners - cleanest wind and a fair margin of safety. Little kickers/shore break. Get there by driving towards the old cable station, and you will see it. As the tide comes in, the beach ends up nearly 200m closer. So think before you put your car on the sand. You can drive out on the rocks on the right if the tide is out, so you don't have to walk so far. Launching at high tide is difficult - best launching off your tow ball, but be careful of the box thorns and the electric fence (something a few of us learnt the hard way).

West coast has heaps of options in a southwesterly. Usually Greens at Marrawah is the go, but can sometimes be a touch off shore. Bigger waves and cleaner wind can be had at light house, but can be pretty gnarly. Other options totally dependent on testicle size.

Looking forward to it - should be sweet.

judging by the temp forecast they could be pretty small

I've sailed most of the spots at Marrawah, except back of lighthouse, but am totally new to the stanley area, so I'll probably be lost.

Ive got sams' number so if its ok I'll give him a call when I'm in the area to see whats happening/where to go.

Thanks

Chains down, hq is the shelter next to the water tanks. Ill Probably kite east inlet channels in the arvo. Be Careful though, a front is coming through.

Briefing at 8am sat morning for the great opener.

I have 50 cans of fizzy bubbler for tksa crew, free of course.

At this stage sup racing will be Sunday morning, hopefully a mental west inlet morning on Saturday.
Forecast looks fantastic! Sw 20-30kn fri nd sat! Then if we're lucky a 10-20 kn easterly on Sunday!
Too good!

Please remember to respect the place, absolutley no burn outs on the grass or beach or broken glass etc, coz parks will put us in the flamin rape dungeon Alisa!! And then what.. Nothing but years of servitude and butt reaming by Alf Stewart! Noooooooooooo!!

Bloody hell it's a white capping sou'wester out the window already! Yeooowww!
