not had this wind range issue with the park, i ride from 15-25 on my 10, perhaps you had it on the grunt setting or something

You are bang on Eppo... The Rebel being higher aspect does love it when its cranking. I must admit I did try the 10 Park in 18 - 22 knots and gusting up to 30knts. I guess at the time I was not happy with it 2012 model. Just did not feel as smooth as I thought but it drifted OK. I guess I am used to a higher aspect kite.

Dont get me wrong the kite I borrowed was set up for my mate and he loves to crank it. He rides it hard and the build quality is there. He is now considering moving from the Park to something more wave dedicated. Single people with time and money....

I have ridden the 2013 Catalyst and Reo I was pretty happy with the Catalyst but not blown away. I am with you Eppo if they made a smaller Zephyr I would be pretty happy...

Love to see how the Dice works... If its more all round like the Park could be a great kite.

I think the dice looks closer to a c kite than the open c look of the park.

It will be interesting to see if still has that tight loop that the Vegas has....that with good drift and a good relaunch....also Bottom end was always another down point on the Vegas,but if the dice has more power than the Vegas .I am figuring the loop will be not quite as tight as the Vegas.Intersting to see the power difference between a 9 m dice and a 10 m Vegas.

It will drift better for sure, it has a lot of Neo in it by the looks of it. But yeh the jumping is what I'm interested in to find out...And yeh the looping.

So when we are talking about a wave kite, we aren't talking about down-the-line Reo style surfing? We are talking about a wave kite that is nice for playing in the surf, with power?

the park is a compact c, shorter wing and wider canopy. dice looks more drawn out in the wings

Well maybe to everything you said. I know guys who prefer the Neo over the REO so it depends on the user man.

Also I'm not so sure the dice has been copied by the REO there are some noticeable differences. Could start with pulleys and wing tips and keep moving on but I can't be bothered.

Plus the REO has had a major over haul for 2014 so lets see what that 204 looks and smells like hey...

Well, you are totally right, we need to wait and see. However I disagree the kite will be suitable for both powered carving surf and traditional down the line surf with good drift. Rebels will do better on the first case and neos on the second. I am today at Tarifa Spain and Jaime herranz lives here, I know him, he surely has been involved in the design. I will ask him about the intention. He told me the best selling kites are Evo and Neo this season. If North is thinking on only 3 kites for 2014 i wonder which ones?? I guess once the we have the dice tested we can say a little more, but looking at the shape it looks like i totally wave dedicated Kite with low weight, good drift qualitiies and no complexity like pulleys to avoid damage when Kite sucked by 4-5 meters waves

hey guys till(the boss of north ect) is into waves and this was his project. Hes a great guy and the kite is fantastic most dealers have demos from today
RPS has an 8 and a 11. James is frothing over it. He had it out in flat water a few times and double loops , dark sides ect where you want control but power are perfect. James prefers the 4 line set up. i will get him to write a review when he gets out of the water

"boost,loop and do big air free ride trick" i agree I would use a Vegas or Rebel as I do, Vegas is a dedicated freestyle kite, but Vegas is not right for Waves. I don?t see any benefit for north to develop a kite for all, they already have Evo which is the all rounder. Rebels were some time ago adevertised as "waves" kites, but is more a free ride, race due to its huge windrange, upwind abilities... Neo was the first attempt for a fully dedicated "surfing" kite, not a wave kite. Looking at the initial feedback from pgc:

"It drifts like nothing else. The dice is a whole new kite. You can fly it right in the front of the window in waves and it will sit even in the most radical cut backs and hacks"

It looks they have developed a kite for pure surfing which is goods news at least for me. I will keep using Rebel for powered carving and Dice for surfing strapless with my glass surf board. (By de way, I use a Chanel Island Semipro 12 with wax and I am delighted, I have tryed many boards... Kontacts, Wams, Tuflites Flyers, Globals, Ben Wilson... I the CI is my favourite for the time being, big airs, big waves, and riding fast and hard in chopy and no serious damage)

Seriously, you guys need to stop hypothesizing and postulating on what it may or may not be. North dealers around the country have had demo's in stock for weeks now. There is little you can tell about the performance of a kite by photographs alone regardless of its shape or dimensions. So far from all the comments on this thread, there has not been a single first hand review, the closest being pgc's Dad.

The Vegas is a average wave kite in my opinion, but the Dice which looks extremely close to the Vegas, has amazing surf performance. The two kites are completely different in flight characteristics. Opinions from people who have not ridden the kite are worthless.

I suggest you try one, and then write a review which offers some value to the readers!

DAZZA zarb has a post about the shape/ design of wave kites. I for one would love to hear your take, you always have a great knowledge of kites and why and how they work.

And yes I think I agree with you, someone get on one a write a decent review.

Ps....most of the guys that know you wouldn't mind if you did a review of the dice mate, you are always impartial and informative.

That's a function of more aspect on the rebel probably not a fault of the lower aspect dice.
