I have de-sensitized my self over the years with repeated exposure to silly conditions.

It's good in some respects as I operate without fear paralising me. After all it is usually the fear and aprehension that causes a failure in the first place. Riding with confidence and confiction usually works out well.

But at the same time because of the reduced fear levels I've put myself into dangerous positions I should have walked away from.....

Hey "slave" dont try judging everyone else by your own ability,if you want proof ask Alazon he was on the beach at the time i was out for 2 hours on my 6m and the wind hit 100 klm 3 times while out there ,recorded on the local weatherstation 500m down the beach with a 3 second average,only about 4 of us made it on the water and it was absolutely crazy conditions.
i saw a couple of guys get caned in the biggest gusts but it was a hell of a ride.
Belive it or not i dont really care
other guys were on 5, 6.5 and a 120 kg rider on a 7

Yea plummet the surf was huge 3-4 m and inbetween the swells it was smooth as,with foamy scudds everywhere,once out the back it was easy to handle the gusts i'd throw toeside and run with the wind while doing this you could drop about 5-10 knots running off the wind and calving down the faces till youd get closed out,nothing like it

yeah I've had some sessions like that. I'm getting used to big surf. double/triple head. its scary as **** but at the same time so much cleaner and more predictable because the face has pulled clean. once you get over the bigness its sweeeeeet. Had a session a month ago at a point break. Cross shore but a small headland keeping the wind off the actual wave. super clean faces double head and an endless stream of them... nobody else there just me. blissfully ripping. then smashing a massive boost of the next super clean wall on the way back out. oh farken yeah.

This is probably a better shot of a clean wave in 40 knots.

Back to the topic of surviving a storm front.I have been caught out once.I consider myself lucky that I was afew hundred mtrs of the beach.The biggest problem I had was, that prior to the front hitting ,the wind was manageable on my 10mtr kite.When it hit I got shot up into the air.my board was 50mtrs behind me and all I could do was go into survival mode.As the kite was getting smashed from above ,I was getting dragged closer to the beach.decided to release the safety .The kite did what I hoped it would do and crashed down on the water.( five line kite)Very carefully I pulled the kite up to me before it hit the beach.defalated.My biggest mistake was, that I wasn't looking over my shoulder to see what weather was coming.If you see a massive rain front or cloud formation approaching you have to decide quickly what to do.Guys don't confuse this topic also with riding in 40 plus winds.I have been out in those conditions.You have the right size kite and your prepared.all the best,and keep an eye out over your shoulder.
