Nah robbie in the lighter winds there is no need for the AA.

It's the higher winds that your kite can and will given enough chances fly up and over and bang!

Especially with the higher aspect kites...cause they wanna fly! Like a bull flaring its nostrils, stompin it's legs, staring deadly at and through you into the depths of your naked and fearful soul....Buckle up mother Faaaaarqers!!!!!!!

As i said give it time and the better you get the bigger the winds will get...remember cauncy rides super powered, but us free riders at home or the boys ride with anyway do the same. It does happen, luckily ive just stopped mine in time a few times, others i have watched haven't been so lucky.

... yeah true, I only tried it in 20 to 25 skinny winds. Plus, I was testing it on a Rebel that actually just sits there, so long as you take the kite slightly downwind would sit there all day. Then new kite though, no matter what winds wanted to take off, almost impossible to hold down.

The few times I have tried this, I've walked/jogged back to the bar "hunchback style" a few times keeping the bottom steering line against the sand. Might not look very kool (not that I give a crapola about how it looks), but as you are self launching with a tether with no one else around, who cares? At least it keeps the kite trying to head back to the ground when it tries to take off.......it also allows a little more freedom to reposition the line if the kite is moving around along the beach as Plummet mentioned.

If there is something that might make this dangerous, that I don't understand/appreciate, then pls let me know so I stop doing it before it ends badly.

a great mate who i kite with from the uk said he witnessed a girl at rhossniger in wales have her nose taken off ( well it was hanging on with a bit of skin) when launching a kite as it surged up and forward, hence the missus wont have a bar of it if i ask her to launch me, also witnessed a guy clip his safety on his line then run along his line to his kite ( what a numpty ) he didnt take too kindly me giving him a safety brief in a man on man manner, after his response i was hoping hed get slammed

Can you post me some wind..............not much point videoing it in the crappy 15kts winter winds...........although I'm not sure if you wanted a version showing the technique working, or would you prefer a kook version where I get spanked badly by the kite?

Cauncy, which bit of his technique did you take exception to..a) the clipping his safety on the line (I assume you meant on the lowest steering line) , b) the running on his line (I assume you meant cause it could damage the line?), or c) both, or d) none of the above. Eppo, you should let Cauncy answer first.......you school teachers should be better at multiple guess than the rest of us.

I'm still not sure if either of you experienced guys believe there is some risk doing it this way that I, a self professed rooky, haven't thought of?
