Don't get me wrong dude, I'm glad you are trying to progress but I wouldn't exactly call butterslides and nosedrags advanced tricks. Barefooting is kinda hard sometimes I guess. I think the hardest thing you can do hooked in is some out of control spinning combined with some sort of crazy board off not using a handle, that is about as close to advanced hooked in as you can get I would say.
Just putting it out there, but maybe it's time for you to try unhooked stuff? It's not all super hard and it doesn't have to be spin to win type stuff. There is only so much you can do tethered to the bar.
Yeah, I know where you are coming from, I have spent a lot of time unhooked doing passes and such. I have moved away from that type of riding for a couple of reasons.
I ride in very choppy open ocean conditions and am looking for something to do when the swell is not up.
I know too many people with shoulder injuries from over-extended handle passes.
I get more satisfaction from the type of riding I have described. I feel like I am having an epileptic fit while unhooked, but the other tricks feel smooth.
True-butterslides and nose drags (I know what they are now) are not too advanced but damn do they feel good.
I would have to disagree with your point that "the hardest thing you can do hooked in is some out of control spinning combined with some sort of crazy board off" because I think the timing of low altitude kiteloop trick requires a lot more skill than sending and floating, thus the reason I specified no board-offing.
This post was initiated in the hope that someone out there is also stoked on a particular trick that does not fall into the classic 'wakestyle' category and could share it.
So, thank you for your observation sir R. and hopefully there will be some more from the seabreeze community who like to stay tethered to the bar.
