I have developed a love for powered, hooked in (mostly kiteloop based) tricks and my imagination has run dry.

So, I'm putting the call out there to anyone with some interesting grab/spin/kiteloop/transition combos

Not really interested in unhooking or board-offing.

Some examples...

Stalled 1 handed forward roll, landing with a downloop/transition, popping straight off the water again into a kiteloop back roll.

nose grab forward roll with reversed kiteloop transition (ie land going back the other way with 2 twists in the lines.

classic double backroll with single kiteloop.

toeside backroll kiteloop transition with a hand drag.

Anyway, I'm starting to sound like a tosser.

powered hey, how about all those board tricks like edging with just the nose or tail or dragging just the nose of the board in the water behind you on transitions or whatever. And best of all.. jesus walk and stuff like that. Is this stuff advanced enough? I reckon all those tricks would be heaps fun and look good and be hooked in and powered and with looping when you want.

I have been attempting the jesus walk with mixed results, and butterslides are good fun. I might look into the nose drag stuff, have not seen that before.

And thank you, Smedg, for an actual suggestion. I was getting worried there for a second.

Don't get me wrong dude, I'm glad you are trying to progress but I wouldn't exactly call butterslides and nosedrags advanced tricks. Barefooting is kinda hard sometimes I guess. I think the hardest thing you can do hooked in is some out of control spinning combined with some sort of crazy board off not using a handle, that is about as close to advanced hooked in as you can get I would say.
Just putting it out there, but maybe it's time for you to try unhooked stuff? It's not all super hard and it doesn't have to be spin to win type stuff. There is only so much you can do tethered to the bar.

Yeah, I know where you are coming from, I have spent a lot of time unhooked doing passes and such. I have moved away from that type of riding for a couple of reasons.

I ride in very choppy open ocean conditions and am looking for something to do when the swell is not up.

I know too many people with shoulder injuries from over-extended handle passes.

I get more satisfaction from the type of riding I have described. I feel like I am having an epileptic fit while unhooked, but the other tricks feel smooth.

True-butterslides and nose drags (I know what they are now) are not too advanced but damn do they feel good.

I would have to disagree with your point that "the hardest thing you can do hooked in is some out of control spinning combined with some sort of crazy board off" because I think the timing of low altitude kiteloop trick requires a lot more skill than sending and floating, thus the reason I specified no board-offing.

This post was initiated in the hope that someone out there is also stoked on a particular trick that does not fall into the classic 'wakestyle' category and could share it.

So, thank you for your observation sir R. and hopefully there will be some more from the seabreeze community who like to stay tethered to the bar.

i got to say aswell i would go down the board off path if big air, hooked in was my choice, they are suprisingly fun and harder than you'd think, i mess around with one footers and such stuff when its rediculously windy and im bored. sounds like you got most of the kiteloop variations down, there are only so many possibilities with kiteloops hooked in.

What I really wanna know is how does Charl have more posts than Rowdy if he only posts in his defence or to back him up each time?

Time to start proper wakeboarding boys, you know the real wake guys think your a bunch of try hard wankers don't ya.

Kiting is kiting not wakeboarding.

@Sandman
I realise you want to stay hooked, but just for the record you dont need to do a "handle pass" when unhooked, there are lots of other things you can practice first and make them smooth, rolls to revert etc...
If you want to progress further hooked in, why not just do another spin or a kiteloop? It seems pretty obvious to me as that is really the only option your leaving open.

@kiterman
Why would I want to start "proper wakeboarding"? what ever that means. I have a kite, I don't need a wakeboat, I have my own tow device that I can drive myself and get towed over as many ramps as I want. FOR FREE.
I know a fair few of Aussies best wakeboarders and last time I checked they didn't think I was a "try hard wanker", but what they couldn't work out was what people were doing flailing around in straps claiming tricks...

p.s.
Glad to see you know that "kiting is kiting" hahaha, least we know you graduated from primary school.

wow i get burnt for giving legitimate advice.. haha i am getting good.

i got more posts because i post and delete to bump my numbers up so it looks like i post more and therefore are more superior to sir douchebag.

i do ride boat from time to time and il probly school ya there too if i wasnt a student and actually worked I would probably ride boat every possible oppertunity that i got. the two sports compliment each other well.

how did u read what i said as anything about wakeboarding?

as long as i get props for my kiting from the guys i know that rides boat and cable il keep doing my thing.

So you must be a REAL WAKE GUY with a post like that. I just wanted to know the difference between a REAL WAKE GUY and just a pretend one.

Are the REAL WAKE GUYS the ones that cruise around my local Lake with thier Gay euro techno blasting out speaker pods, and gay bling all over their Gay 80,000 boats? towing thier Gay mates around on Gay blow up round things?

And if you are a REAL WAKE GUY wtf are you doing on seabreeze?

There were some boys on Seabreeze a while ago talking about multiple hooked in front rolls with forward kite loop and calling it the cannonball?

The thing with hooked in is you can't really change your rotation speed like you can when unhooked

Sandman

How about an indy grab tantrum to blind, followed by a blind back roll (landing blind again). Or maybe a back to blind, with a blind rewind.

I really think a good jesus walk is the hardest hooked in trick. I haven't got one yet.

Hi mate ,you could try doing some of the more basic loops in stronger winds eg 38+.
Winds like that make me think twice before pulling the triger....

Funny how majority of the wakeboarding community still thinks that kiteboarding is not a stylish as wakeboarding regardless of straps/kitelow/unhooked.

I disagree completely, I think both sports have different and unique styles and they're both awesome to watch and do. All board sports have styles taken from other, older board sports. But now the older sports are taking on tricks learnt from newer sports (i.e aireals in surfing) and all that jazz.

Both sports are so much fun, but different and everyone should realise that.
