Cheers to Sprucey for getting behind the lens. I chopped this up in an hour so forgive the shabby editing.

Cheers

Not a bad effort for an hour. Very funny intro, great work I'm very jealous of your spot by the way. Would do anything to have a spot over here with water that flat.

Hey guys,
I normally ride at Pinaroo point, which is typically pretty bumpy. Would love to have just one shot at Woodies on that buttery stuff, but I've read the stories of newbies coming unstuck on the offshore side.
If I can competently stay upwind and have one season of experience should I theoreticlly be ok on the offshore side - I assume that was where that footage was taken ????? Don't worry, not looking to move in and become a local and crown the joint, just wanted to come down one saturday to see what its like on the smooth water.
cheers.

couldnt say no one has seen you ride.... its not like staying upwind at normal spots tho... bit different and if you do mess up chances are no one will rescue you so you have to be prepared for a bit of a swim.

Sure dude no one is going to stop you.
However there is a lot more to riding upwind at woodies offshore, theres the dodging and weaving and understanding the natural order of things keeping as much out of each others way. Theres kites crashing everywhere and most people have a certain spot they like to do their moves in, so if your not quite up to it all best bet is ride upwind at the very top of the spit and don't hang around the shore for ages doing short tacks. Also you should be prepared to self rescue should anything go wrong however there will be people to help you most of the time but it will cost you beer. As a general level of riding I wouldn't recommend riding there until you can do backrolls and frontrolls at the very least and able to self rescue.

Yes, imagine, if you will, that your safety leash falls apart after your safety release on your chicken loop has been pulled inadvertently and your kite is now not attached to you. How much to you want to keep your kite? Imagine, if you will, swimming after it and just getting to it before exhaustion kicks in, then being unable to hook back in because the chicken loop does not, in fact, form a loop. What do you do? Do you hold onto the bar with one hand, dunk your head underwater to see what you're doing and with the other hand try and put the release mechanism back together as you slowly drift away from shore? Once you've managed that can you get the kite to relaunch after it has tumbled and crossed its lines over when you first lost it? After all that are you still within range of the beach to get back to it? What has happened to your board?

Thanks to the girl who grabbed my board last Thursday and bought it back to me when I recovered by the way .

Yes I do remember from when I introduced myself on the beach beforehand, but she didn't want to tell me her forum tag so I figured it wasn't my place to go publishing her real name all over the place.

All those who want to see Caroline should head for Safety Bay or Bibra Lake.
She is hardly ever at Woodies.

jeez - flat water - Aaron Hadlow - how many attractions can one spot handle !

Should be a right peanut gallery for the Hadlow demo.
