Fair enough Jimmy you may be one of those people that actually aren't suited to their harness was just making the point that a lot of people on this forum post about a problem they are having and people reply, get x product to fix. I'm sure most kite shops will have a demo harness... Try a whole heap find which one suits you... No one on this forum will be able to tell you.

So you're not a fat bastard and your technique is ok.

That leaves you with your harness is done up too tight.

Loosen it off a *little*. The harness will slide up momentarily then slide straight back down when you bring the kite back down. If it's too tight it will ride up over your ribs and wedge there.

I'm with you. Tried a couple of waists and they just don't work for me. I spent a year on a Mystic Warrior with no luck. I have a flat chest so it either rides up or its so tight it hurts me. Guess something like the North would help but I just got used to the LF boardshorts because they sit slightly higher than most seat harnesses and the comfort was better.

Have you looked at a impact vest harness, ???

A buddy of mine rides one full time and swears by it. Otherwise try on as many as possible. Personally I found flying objects the best fit but lacked slightly in construction (that was 08/09 season may now be better). I currently use a pat love that is tough in construction but it does ride more than the flying objects. If you dont flog your gear as I do i would reconmend a flying objects for snugness.... Now you have got me thinking now about a new harness ... dam it !!!!

The Dakine impact harnesses have their benefits -- I had one for a few years -- great idea but they are NOT designed for people over 180cm. (I'm 188). The spreader bar sits too high and it will destroy your back. Took me two years to work out that was the reason my back was always trashed after a session. Ditched it and my back has been heaps better since

However, I now have a new Dakine Renegade that I got from KitePower and it's brilliant -- Lightweight, strong, well made and has a special extra strap that keeps the spreader bar from riding up. Highly recommended. Good also for riding toe-side for when you need to slide it around on your rashie.

In the end I think you're right, but it's always helpful to hear suggestions, now I just need some windy days to try out a few harnesses :)

There are a few that look like they might do the trick, thanks for the suggestions everyone, definitely got me thinking.

I particularly like the look of the Dakine, which I'm guessing will also provide a small amount of bouyancy, great for the long swims in... I crash a lot.

North was also great, despite the fruity colours!
