I've seen plenty of sharks down at beach 1 already this season. I don't think anyone really kids themselves at Woodies, everyone knows its a sharky area. With all the noobs body dragging around out there i feel fairly safe anyhow.
If there are two things I've noticed on this forum it's that the W in WA must stand for 'Whinging' and more recently the myth of the 'Fearless Aussie' evidently died out with Steve Irwin.
I spoke to one of the guys who rides the shark chopper, and he said that woodies gives him not much trade. occasionaly sees them near coogee, but way more scarbs/ trigg / ocean reef than any other area. he thinks they kind of swim down the channel and funnel into that area, rather than detouring up into the sound. no mention of woodies - it's pretty shallow where most guys kite there anyway.
