I asked for clarification of Rylands assertion that they are good for kiting.
I think at kiting speeds the extra lift would either be too much, or generate spinout perhaps.
That's why windsurfing went away from similar tricks as surfing is not like a wave riding board that also has power.

My fins arrived today.

yep Decided to to spend the $230, got lucky on a horse, and a week of no smashed avo in hipster cafes, easy.

If they work anything like the are packed, the will be amazing!

its like opening, a tecno marine watch, each fin in a fancy AF sleave, a carabiner??? ( cause everyone loves a carabiner)

Iv heard people comment about the material its made from, ( no ideas....) but the seem very well put together

now just wait till peru next week and see how they go

I got a set and I love them so far. Haven't tried them on the kite yet. The most noticeable difference for me is the acceleration and speed coming out of the first bottom turn. I did my thesis using computational fluid dynamics and I would be curious to see the results. Its good to see this tech being used in the surf industry as most stuff is usually just horse s*&% that is trialed/endorsed by pro surfers that could rip on a McDonald's tray! Similar to kiting I guess...

If I was a pro surfer (far from) my only concern would be flex. Most good surfers prefer specific fins for flex but these only come currently in one configuration. You definitely cannot afford to drop a fin with the price (future inserts all the way) but that comes with the innovation. I recon they will currently only appeal to good surfers or mining yobo's (me) that have a $1K krypto in their quiver.

Still have no f*&^%#g clue why there is carabiner in the box...

Also just got a set and used them on a Sup. Could definitely feel a difference and loved it. Best way to describe it would probably be to say that the board felt more alive and reactive. It did feel like they generated some extra speed but find that hard to say for sure as I was on some decent waves for the first time in a while.
I will definitely be trying them on a kite board as I feel there could be a lot of potential here for light wind.
Will be interesting to see what it will do for handling at speed though.

got to say peru is pretty epic for Kiting and surfing!

so the fins from very much an average kiter.

the first thing i noticed is the ability to get going in super light winds, when people were on 17m I managed no problem on the 12m, im a bigger guy as well (95kg on a good day). They really did make a difference when it was light and drove up wind! alot of current in peru and no dramas

are they better then normal fins? simple answer is YES, if your at the top of your game and looking for an extra edge they would be amazing. If your a normal bloke like myself they really helped get me up and going and felt great on waves, snappy of the top and super fast through the bottom turns.

the $$$ THEY NOT CHEAP! but f#*k its alot cheaper then a 17m or a foil.

if you have the $$$ i would recommend, they are not going to turn you into Keahi but they will help you improve
