I can imagine you were feeling it in your legs!! Yeah, got a lift back with my mate who'd gone downwind with Grace (please thank her for driving down too!). Got the board thanks. Will keep an eye out for you and will try to have a few beers on board when I do. Thanks again.

for everyone else, dont go to woodies offshore and expect to be helped out.

i dont know who u are but u were lucky there was a noob there to help u.

with more crowding riders of average ability will be less tolerated. As it is there are plenty of spots where people can ride back and forth, but few that are good for high level freestyle.

would you go out at tombies and crowd it up if you werent catching waves? would it be tolerated?

I suspect it gets more crowded in cross-onshore. Better put up a list of "high level freestylers" that are allowed to kite there!

Yeah have to back Carbine out on this one, a few riders were not up too scratch at woodies the other day. Havox you almost ****ed yourself crashing that far out with the wind dyeing at one stage. We rescued so many kites and boards last summer it wasn't funny. Your an idiot going there unless you are a competent kiter and you know your limits (Havox).

For instance the wind is dyeing stay close to shore.

If you can't relaunch where you can't touch the bottom, riding dodgy gear, can't ride up wind well or self rescue don't come. If you **** up its a very long drift out to sea. Not a place for beginners.

Same same today. Xoffshore at beach two. Flexifoil couldnt relaunch, lost his board, drifted past the groin heading for Rockingham. Pure luck the wind changed to SW just long enough to blow him into bottom end of beach one.
Offshore anywhere is just asking for trouble if you are not full bottle.
BTW - Magic day today westerly blowing as steady as any seabreeze.

I didn't go there expecting to be helped out, hence the thank you thread.

Carbine - your are unreal mate. You shouldn't have to tolerate anyone else in the water. Ever.

Nobody will kite with Carbine, he is too hard core.
He is a street fighter by night and owns a killer pit bull with a studded collar.

true dat

dirtyharry i didnt say u did. Im saying to people thinking about going to woodies dont go out and think if u do **** up that someone will rescue u/your kite/your board, coz they probably won't.

There are two reasons intermediate/beginner people shouldnt go out.

1. Its a frikken long swim/drift in through sharkyass dodgy water. Its even longer in a dieing seabreeze as the wind begins to shift southerly and even more offshore.

2. There are alot of gun riders who will get angry if u stuff there session up. Do your really want to piss off the Best/influetial local riders?

btw
I have heard from a few of the crew out that day that it was a frikken joke. It only takes one rider to stuff it up for the rest. dont be that one.

Dirtyharry.....

average ability riders like you should just stay completly out of the water!!

Cant beleive you were out there getting in the way of all that High level freestyle!

But anyway.... you've paid the price! - you've probably pissed off some of the Best/influetial local riders!

Well if your fresh into the sport <1yr. Unless your thinking of giving up soon, its not exactly a good idea. Whos going to give u a launch, whos going to lend u there pump, whos going save your life when your crossbow inverts, whos going to give u that patch to fix your kite, whos going to let u try there gear, whos going to give u tips to dial in that backroll.................

pay your dues then come to woodies offshore.

I am very new. Started last month. I am going to stay in the backyard pool for a year first. I wouldn't want to cross lines with carbine and "accidentally" drown him, he is such a nice fellow.

Dirty Harry looks like you need a home pool to practice too.

P.S. is it just the dog that wears the collar?

Personally I don't like it crowded. But seriously theres soo many places in Perth to kite, Woodies offshore is probably the most dangerous due to the wind direction and with people crashing kites everywhere on suicide leashes etc.

I rescue peoples kites and boards, and to be perfectly honest it is mainly the more advanced riders kites we are saving most of the time.

The problem with riding there as a kook is that if you stuff up you drift a very long way out to sea and is quite dangerous. Also your unlikely to understand the unspoked rules of the water, cut people off and put yourself in dangerous positions.

The thing is about woodies offshore is that its really only suited heaps for the pure flat water freestyle, if your not doing that then theres billions of better places to ride. When you get kooks who can't negotiate through traffic of up to 40 kites or more with many of them crashing everywhere you run into trouble. If you run into trouble at woodies you can be in deep ****.

Know your limits and your skills and you will be fine.

I heard if your kite rises above 45 at any stage during an offshore woodies session you'll get your lines cut by the best/influential riders bahahaha
