To be fair, a number of the windsurfer never stopped sailing through the top of the pond. Even straight after all the discussions with them.
But kiters moving down to the windsurfers area is still not helping.

The best method I've seen to stop this is by getting one of those old safety knife things that use to come with your harness and just cut their lines. Seems to put the message across very well. I've seen our local kite cop do it a couple of times and it's worked a treat!

Latest Update from the pond....

Finally Karma struck today, I'm told from a good source some hero decided to launch on the lawn no more than 10m from a main road. Unfortunately for him there was a lull in the wind and his kite drifted back into the pine trees, it remained there and required the help of a buddy to get it down.
Anyone going to own up.

Also I'm beginning to think that maybe there isn't to many that read seabreeze, friends teaching friends in a foot of water in the windsurfing zone within 50m of 3 or 4 obstacles/hazards still continues.

I don't see why people can't just accept that the pond is not a place for learners. WTF is wrong with people? There is so much suitable learning area on the other side of the point. It's waist-chest deep and perfect for learning.

Don't people feel like dickheads when they hold up everyone else while they splash around trying to learn to kite? I just don't get it. Why would you want to be a nuisance?

Unfortunately when learning, people get fixated on what they are doing and this requires all their focus and attention.

I get that but I'm not far off from a floundering noob myself. I see the guys in the pond working on something new, and I know how I'd feel if it were me and someone was getting in my way when there is a perfect spot for learning just over the spit.

I'm all for sharing and getting along but if people don't respond to being asked nicely then I don't see why they shouldn't cop some verbal abuse. Kiters are pretty cool people for the most part so I doubt anyone is just unleashing on these people the first time.

Everyone should have a safe place to learn and we've got one, just on the outside of the point.

Hi Andrew you must be talking about the yacht club area, which is also can be dangerous. These guy's I've mentioned have launched where the locals setup under the pines and power lines with cars 10m away doing 60/70 clicks. It's appreciated if visitors go to the car park and walk out to the rigging area, that way they can ask questions.

Anyway I'm off to the pond, I wonder what to expect today

Nope carpark next to the pine trees. To his credit he realized he was being an idiot after I suggested it wasn't the best thing to be doing
