Exactly what have you had to buy?
A one pump (slingshot anyway) actually only has two valves, inflate and deflate.
As opposed to 5 or more valves with multi pump.

If it was other parts of a one pump system that you have had to buy, what and why?
Did they fail from design fault or damage due to accident?

If it is the nipples coming off the bladder, that can happen whether it's one pump or multi pump! and that is a flaw in the manufacturing process not in the one pump design.

The main issue is pressure required to get the right shape.
The 07 Rebel is multi - and getting the struts pumped to pressure is a breeze. LE 8 psi strut 10 psi. It is easier wrapping up.
Most kites use one or more struts to hold a deeper camber and with one pump it feels as though the LE is about to burst before the strut shapes up - to get the strut shape it would be easier with higher PSI in the strut than the LE.

My youngster is practically doing a handstand on the pump to get 8 psi into his kite - he weights in at 54 kgs - He gets me to finish off - I weight 70kgs so do not want any higher pressure designs coming out - I cant handstand anymore

Ok terminology difference (valves / nipples) but:

It's the 'nipples' that tear around the circumference due to the excess pressure exerted by the tubes (Connecting LE to strut) flapping around on impact.

Now that's an odd sentence……

Anything that tugs or pulls on one piece of plastic that is glued to another is inherently a bad design and a point of failure.

One-pump is a deliberate scheme to limit the useful life of a kite.

Some models in the BEST range are multi-pump, and some are one-pump.
I fly Kahoonas cause they are multi-pump.

YEP - prelim advise says you can save $150 if you choose the (obviously best) option of multi pump.
Funny that a kite co. would make the less obsolescent option; lets scam the buying public; cheaper rather than dearer.
According to Slaveys breakdown the multi-pump should be the dearer option
