Hi Everyone,
The forecast has suggested SE winds turning SSE and then southerly 20-30 knots later in the afternoon. Looking at the lay of the land of Leighton Beach, this will produce extremely gusty wind and will be bordering on dangerous at gusts to 30 knots.
After much thought and discussion with Ian, I had come to two alternatives for todays event. Either postpone the event, or move it to somewhere that handles a southerly. The two choices are on the river or Pinnaroo Point. The river will be gusty especially around the windward mark and there will be a lot of yacht traffic doing their sunday race thing. This left Pinnaroo Point. Pinnaroo will be devoid of Newbies in such strong wind and is a prominent point so it accepts a Southerly nicely.
With this in mind, I have chosen Pinnaroo Point as the location for todays event. I hope you can all still attend. We will try and keep the racing upwind of the regular riders so as not to interfere too much. Gees we might even be able to get Bellz to join us.
Sorry for the late notice, but I was hoping for a better forecast. We will rerun the Leighton race at another time and date.
Start is same at Pinnaroo Skippers briefing at 2pm. Meet at the trailer and racing to begin at 2.30, wind permitting.
Good winds and I hope to see you there.
