Its actually a pretty good idea. Would make toeside transitions a lot smoother, and good for the boys pulling the technical wake tricks like mobes ect, although doing them hooked in is gay I guess.

Well done coxy, you know your history.

Hadlow had one on his harness on the first year he won the WC. In an early final, he won against will james, but the judges said the final had to be re-run beacuase of the ring... So Hadlow went and bust the same routine, unhooked, perfectly. James just rode round watching knowing he was beaten...

Gay... gay gay. Totally removes the skill of the h'pass.

I've always wondered what that gadget was that Hadlow refers to in that story!

Great story too. Gotta admire him for that.

im not sure fi it was the exact same thing.. but i know its somethign his dad whipped up to make handlepasses less demanding on the body, because his dad made him use it to prevent injuries.

and yes it is gay.. and no dont even think about using that to learn passes.

I think this harness is to kiting is the same as what the monoski was to skiing ....back in the 80s it was thought to be cool because it made powder easy the ski....then we got fat skis and peole realised that that having your knees and feet together looked and feels totaly dicky. See laurie I refrained from using the G word!!!

I saw it kiteforum!!!! and thought we need to warned of what might come our way.

Is the 80's when Steve mc fected was cool? Is that knee problem and old monskiing injury? If so.. you really should have seen it coming!

Whats the issue? So it opens up handle passes to people who aren't hardcore. So what? Do you really care that much. Do you see anyone claiming them as unhooked handlepasses?

Not everyone is 25 and has shoulders of steel. What about the 40+ year olds who wouldn't mind doing a handle pass without ripping their shoulder out its socket or tear a rotor cuff?

It amazes me how obsessed the "cool" crowd are with what everyone else is doing instead of just worrying about themselves and how much they are enjoying the sport. It seems some people are only in the sport to prove they are superior to others or more hardcore.

not really too fussed on the coolness/lameness of the item, different strokes for different folks. But I would laugh pretty hard if it jammed halway through a spin!

I am totally with Saffer and Geoff on this one.
Definately not hard core but so what. A long term soft option or just another fad that looks like it could be a whole lot of fun as it passes . Either way - worth a play.
Any one who is SOOO hardcore that they can never be seen having fun are just too cool for their own good. Totally missing the essential meaning of life IMO.

Steve: as soon as you have them in stock I want one to play with - as long as they are the price of a toy not the price of a formula for world domination

"he who enjoys most wins"

ps - and Yes I did try the monoski thing in the 80's ; and I also used to pull out a smoke at the end of every run - neither were much fun.

ALSO.....
how about as training tool for all you budding world class freestylers. .
Turn your epileptic fits into smooth stylish moves without having to put your shoulders on the line on every practice run.
Then work on unhooked when you have the move itself fully dialled .
One step between doing it in your head to doing it for real
- maybe
...... just a thought.

Wow- do we really care ? If you are riding so somebody else can give you props for being cool then go take up another sport. You must be the guy who does tricks in the shallows so people can ooh and aah - all about the ego. I ride for fun and that looks like fun.

The only reason kitesurfing will never be truely accepted by other boardsports is because some other boardsporters are desperately trying to hang on to the fantasy & misapprehension that their sport is still the better option when we kiters all know its NOT

Coming from a crowd of people that added phat sacs to boats so it makes is easier to jump higher and added a tower on the boat so they could get more lift it doesn't say much. Isn't that exactly the same? You're using something to make the sport easier and more accessible, or are there hardcore wakeboarders who don't weigh down their boats or use towers?

The irony is most people bitch that not enough women do the sport and then when people come out with ideas that make it more accessible to women then people complain its not core enough.

Nobody is forcing you to use this, just like no one is forcing you to use bow kites. If all you are worried about is how "legit" and "core" this sport is seen to surfers and wakeboarders then you have some serious inferiority issues.

Heeeey... don't bag the likes of Glenn Plake. The man's a legend and Monoski is still cool, I guess you're just not into skiing enough to realise it..

And thats just for starters. My head is spinning with all the possibilities.

C'mon Tom I bet you will be the first one lining up to take it off me for a spin.
Well probably right behind Damo
OMG imagine what Damo could do with a toy like that

not such a silly suggestion,, While i was learning i was always tempted to stick on a laminated "L" plate to my harness. Would avoided a fair bit of abuse.

Im with Saffer on this one, Not everyone is young enough to be a Sic **** on the water. Looks like it would be allot of fun for an older bloke, but im sure it poses a safety issue. If it does jam up or you land wrong i doubt u could get to the QR in time.
