beachwinches.com/diy-plan-1/

is the plan i used on the beach winches web site there are a few other plans, i chose this because of the low centre of gravity, there is gonna be alot of pull and forces acting in all sorts of directions, including downwards creating the winch to flip forwards. There is a list of products there of what you need. Shop around on ebay. I advice is to buy products first before building the frame. Be prepared to wait sometime up to 4 weeks for parts as they mostly are only available in the USA. I ran into a bit of a problem when i had all parts but 1. I built the from and then the part finally turned up after 5 weeks. The TAV2 (torque converter) I'm talking about. The engine wasn't higher enough hence the block under the engine. So work backwards. put parts together measure and then build frame to fit. the frame off that plan was perfect but the TAV2. The guy who built the original plan doesn't have a TAV2 but a CC (centrifugal clutch). He said once he burns out the CC (which they do really quickly) he was gonna put on a TAV2. He will have the same problem as me and will have to build up the engine to fit the TAV2, because it actually drops bellow the engine base block. If you have your own welder and access to steal, then you can - about 250 bucks off the build. Just make sure your weld are strong, because there is alot of pulling force and remember you re gonna be near salt water. the spool is the hardest to find and get. i bought direct from a Wake Winch building company who also sells complete made ones for about 3K (remember that for later). try and reduce unnecessary weight as much as possible. Try and get a spool that has an adjustable diameter because that can change your Torque and speed ratio. Wheel is the best thing, the winch weights about 25-30kgs with the TAV2. A splash back is a requirement, as you don't want salt splashing back on the engine (use a real estate sign) 600ft of line is enough just make sure it doesn't stretch. type in wake winch into ebay and they sell line there for the low price of about 180 bucks hahah. everything is abit expensive. The TAV2 comes in at about 200 bucks, you really need 1 it gives u a better even pull, and easier to pull the line out against the engine. make sure the axel or shaft has a keys bit in it so little lug screws can hold the sprocket the spool in place and not spin or move up and down the shaft. Mate total price is about 800 - 1 grand, but its either that or pay 3 k for a new 1 that is already made. But its the experience of building and the pride in the result. However you will get stressed with it and think why am i doing this. Good luck with it if you continue with it, in my eyes you should. i was a great project and enjoy using it in all different places.
