Wave Sailing Rules
These are the main rules when wave sailors approaching each other in the wave:

Opposite tack rule: A wave sailor coming in (surfing the wave in) shall keep clear of a wave sailor heading out (jumping the wave).

is it just me or should that rule be reversed?

if i'm wrong please tell me

sort of reversed.. for me, wave rider has priority...unless its obvious sailor going out is going to get pounded in the break because of your ride... give them way, let him get through the break.
but, the 'jumping the wave'...not so sure about that though..

let em get pounded... thats what they tell you to do in surfing haha.. though i like this rule because it gives me priority when hitting kickers

Yep let em get pounded

That rule should be reversed.

When surfing the guy on the wave has priority, if you are padddling out by all means paddle for the shoulder if you can do so without getting in the way of the guy on the wave otherwise you are expected to just paddle for the whitewater and cop it.
The above rule was more of a windsurfing rule because they haven't got the manoeuvreability that kiters have but I think you will find that they will even normally give way to the guy on the wave in most cases.
As a kiter that is kiting in a known waveriding location you should be able to turn to get out of the way and allow the person on the wave to have priority wether they are surfing, windsurfing or kiting.
