Forgive my ignorance please but... I am fairly new to oz (3 years) and even more new to kiting (first season) but what exactly is la Nina? And is there a reason it's got a Spanish name?

just gonna leave this for neptune.

why does this asian guy wearing a stupid suit and pulling a stupid face get used so much in forums .Sorry but i just don't get the humour in it .Is he a comedian in a cult style, south parkesque funny show on SBS or the like that I don't know about?

Hi All,
Thanks for the abundence of good technical info!
Trying to interpret it all, it appears that the La Nina cycle is in fact coming to an end with a return to "normal" condition across the pacific region.
This interests me alot as Im planning a kiting trip to Fiji in July and from what I can gather El Nino = more trade wind and La Nina = less trade wind.
Has anyone got experience with these changing conditions in the Pacific?
Would a trip to Fiji during La Nina conditions be a waste of time?
Any feed back would be appreciated!
