... if you watch the video closely, it looks like he only lets go of the bar when kite gets munched where as he is clearly under the wave.

The way the kite sat, LE down, looked like there was still pressure on the lines way too long showing he was still hanging on. Wouldn't you let go earlier or is he just crazy and thought he could still relaunch it.

Or he'd already let go and there was zero wind and kite was infact detached. What do you think?

yer couldnt imagine if the surfer hit the kite and got ragdolled in it or got slightly tangled

I'm wondering why the surfer chopped the kite at Chopes. ? ^^^

He split the main sock like a ripe watermelon.

Obviously it was intentional.

Cause when he exited the pit, he aimed directly at the leading edge and ran thru it like a hot knife slicing butter.

There must be some crazy backstory to all this.

Maybe the surfer is a good mate of the stricken kiter and he's just ****** with him.

Who knows ?

But I do know that he could have avoided the collision.

Annnnd this is why surfers (or riders from any other board sport for that matter) don't respect kiters. Makes us look REALLY bad as far as I'm concerned.

a) Taking a lower line and going through the kite lines, or

b) Hitting 'eject' in the green room

I agree with WOK, why the **** would you pull out an Edge in the surf?? Doesn't serve this purpose at all!

I don't know about anyone else but I find the Edge's need time and a delicate touch to relaunch from that position. Time is something this dude didn't have.

You talking the reverse hot launch thingy? pull on the steerers and lift it up a few metres backwards then get it into a really tight turn upwards?

I've tried it a couple of times, might have to try a bit harder, seems like a neat solution to relaunching the Edge.

youve got to have a bit of wind to make it work effective, its got me and my kite out of the s**t street a few times
