Damien here. I arrived at Safari Lodge just as Steve and Tony were finishing up their trip. Unfortunately, they took the wind with them and I only got 3 out of my 6 or 7 days for kiting. Warren did bring up a boat so we could go wakeboarding (which btw is in my opinion an essential step for beginner kiteboarders).

I now have burned into my memory a picture of yours truly, wakeboarding under a full moon, on a glassy still and absolutely transparent bay. Lovely. That made the trip for me.

Warren offers a full service trip, and he and his wife are gracious hosts. If you were looking for the absolutely cheapest way to stay in fiji, then Safari Lodge probably isnt the way to do that.

I have no complaints.

Hey Damian, as far as the wind goes, you need the right mantra when sacrificing the chicken

Your right about the boat(s),if it wasn't for the support boat, I wouldn’t have gone. Unfortunately, we didn't get any wakeboarding in and a lot of the non-kiting activities that we had planned didn't eventuate because the wind was putting it on, not that we were complaining

I spent 2 weeks in the Coco’s (keeling) islands prior to the 2 weeks in Fiji and it's made next years plans that more difficult. Both were fantastic, totally different places. The Coco's islands being:.. One of the most remote coral atoll in the world, with its highest elevation at about 12 feet and Fiji:.. being volcanic, with all the mountains and surrounding islands. Both trips were not the cheapest, but, you get what you pay for. Most of the crews from this years trips are returning next year, so I'm going to do both again next year.

The boats were a great help, and I would have given almost anything for the opportunity of going on a downwinder with boats tending us as we went. Sigh.

At least you weren’t the dude on the other side of the island. There was a kiter staying on the other side of the island (west end) and he and his girlfriend would walk for 40 odd minutes along the goat tracks to the Safari side to have a kite. I think they were locked in to where they were staying and on a tight budget.

And French. She was pretty handy at sailboarding ( and wearing a bikini)

At least that's what Steve told me.

You missed Hungarian girl, who was also pretty good in a bikini.
