What is the fastest turning light wind kite on the market, cuz my 2010 zephyr starting to give me the sh!ts with its slow turning?

Then again maybe I just gotta deal with size for light wind lol

Ps live in tropics humidity is high so usually get out in 13 to 19gust knots with 2010 zephyr I'm 65 Kg

Stop living in the past, turn off jimmy Barnes, cut off the mullet, and get the 2013 zephyr

Flysurfer Speed 3 21m on short ( standard) lines - no extensions. Ok so maybe not the fastest turning, but way better than you'd expect. And you get to rip upwind when 17m Zephyrs are walking up the beach. No question foils rock in the light stuff.

^^^^^^^ Blade fat lady ^^^^^^^ (beat me by a secound) .. I'm getting great low end out of a 10m 2014 reo at my weight, so the blade is in buy and sell. We have a bit more puff down here than in the tropics though. At 65kg you have a few options

I haven't ridden any of the others, so can't compare, but I think my Core 17 XR2 can be dialed up to be a quick turning kite (for a big kite)

I have loved it since day 1 and at 92kg, I can ride from 12kts to 20kts..... Great wind range!

If Turning speed is your crucial factor then the TRX, fat lady or even the core for sure.

I find the Blade Fat lady fast for its size on the standard bar but some riders are going to a 60cm bar and are very impressed with its speed. Its probably the lightest of all the inflatable kites. The FL is very easy to stay in the air and really comes alive once you dive it, my favourite big kite!

Also take a look at the Naish Fly and the Liquid Force NRG

What's your weight and bottom end on the reo pearl? Was thinking of an 8, 10 combo myself?

Love the fat lady up to 12 knots, tried a different knot setting the other day and it goes even better.

Is turning speed really the critical factor in a light wind kite?
Surely its the ability to go upwind! and be powered enough to have fun.

In my might turning speed is secondary on light wind days.

who cares if you have a faster turning kite if it wont crank you upwind or be powered enough?

Guess what, often the faster it turns the less low end you get as it's sitting further forward in the window to allow it to pivot more and turn faster.

Zephyr 17m is one of the best light wind kites I've used, the low end is amazing and you can still hold it down when it picks up. I had one out at the mambo riding waves, staying up wind and having fun when no one else could and then when it picked up and people were riding 12s I could still stay out without changing down (hooked in of course). Fuel 17m also used to be a sick low wind kite but it had an almost non-existent wind range, if it picked up a few knots you were cooked.

p.s. 14m NRG seemed to go pretty well in the lighter stuff to, but still not really when you need a 17.

17 meter Edge or 19 if you are a bit more rotund, I see the race board guys getting their edges up in 6 knots and whith race board or foils can get going upwind no probs. Or you could use a large surfboard maybe??

Generally I do not like kiting in light wind - but the new kites especially the ozone edge and race boards are changing that for sure.

Big tip is keep your kite high as you can not low on the edge of window and definitely out of the water in light conditions. Otherwise crack a few stubbies and go out the next day when the wind is stronger

Kiting in less then 20knots is the best time out if you have the right equipment and the wind is steady.

People on foils can get going in 6knots on a 13 or even less, they don't need much kite at all. Same with race boarders, those things almost have the volume of some windsurfers!

All good being able to hold down a 17 zephyr when the wind picks up but its more fun being on a smaller kite that's powered and boosting then lol
