He's speaking the right language at least.
Simplicity. Quality. Value.

Good luck to him

(can't believe I clicked on that bws.com.au link thinking it was short for Ben Wilson Surf!)

Thanks AH for your coment but........

Im not saying that you cant fly a SS kite in the surf and that they wouldn't be good, i have heard the RPM is OK. But there are a lot of other brands out there that work better and when you look at what kites are recommend as a top wave specific kite its rare for ss to get a mention. The SS kites work well as a all-round kite, I don't think that Ben's kite is designed to be a all rounder. I still own some SS kites including revs and quite like them. This is my opinion, not a brand war. If you want to pimp your brand there is a whingers thread started somewhere.

I'm lookin for something that will excel in drift, relaunch, depower, good safety
i can only think of one thing at a time so, if i'm doing a bottom turn, i cant think about the kite, so it's on it's own there.

I'm guessing that Slingshot actually owns BENWILSONSURF.
It's Ben's and Slingy's dirty little secret.
lol.
Don't believe me ?
Ever heard of corporate spin-off ?
That's when an existing parent company forms a subsidiary operation to exploit a particular market.
In this case it's the pure surfing side of kiteboarding.
Hence the name of BENWILSONSURF.
And that means products that are strictly hardcore surf.
Things like wave kites, wave boards (no straps), wetsuits, leggies and even wax.
There will be no twin-tips.
No big-aggressive-air style of kites.
Ben's stuff will be specialized byproducts targetted for the waveheads.

Im ready to believe that one Slavey, why would Slingshot dump the REV / Octane design, one of the most successful kites for Slingshot ever for a Delta kite. Only if deltas have been eating into the sales of REV and Octane and dont want to create competition within the own stable.
BW could have just dug out the REV 1 designs and made himself the best wave kite ever, again?

If i only had a choice between North, Cabrinah and slingshot kites i would definitely buy a ss for the waves. Luckily most people aren't loyal to onboard so have a bit more choice. Our local kite distributor has over 16 brands to choose from including SS.

Bring on summer.

in the increasingly competitive world of kite companys, I think It is a very smart move to bring out a brand that is genre specific. It is a real point of difference to other kite brands. When people think about what products are the best for waveriding , benwilson surf will automatically be forefront in peoples minds. Companys that specialize tend to be market leaders. If the products are quality and priced competitivly I think his brand will do very well.

I am actually a little surprised that no one else has tried this approach for any genre before now.

So Waxy im guessing from your comments you've spent quality time on all the new North, Cabrinha, Slingy and the other 13 kites ur local distributer sells lately? If not whats the point in bagging other kites? How would you know how they all perform in the waves if u havent ridden them in the surf?

Everyone has their preferd brands and yes there are a number of pimps on this forum but most punters who comment on here enjoy their particular brand cos thats what suits their riding style and comfort level. Everyone is different.

Wax its just a fact some people are loyal to Onboard just as your loyal to Easto. Accept it and get on with life!

If you spent some time and read my post i didn't bag anything just gave my 2c worth. You metro homos are a bit sensative IMO.

If you want to know how i could know about different gear it is because i spend the time to read a lot of the posts on seabreeze. You can learn from what others experience with gear as you know it would be impossible to try every product in every condition.

I have purchased just as much gear in the past from onboard as i have locally so not sure what your on about.

And Rooboy good luck with the north vegas this year, sounds like a good kite did you try one before you ordered them or were you just being loyal. There is a lot of options out there read learn and dont be scared to give your opinion and try something different. I'm going to be trying a lot of kites this year before i decide what to get, the SS Rally has me interested, but will try out some takoon and best gear to see what is going to suit the best. You can bet i will give my opinion good or bad on what i try out no matter who sells the gear.

Thanks for taking the time to get on the thread to set me strait, cant wait to see you guys in whyalla in Dec. We will let the ridding do the talking then.

Waxy, I think the point is that people are a little sick of you yapping about stuff that you haven't ridden and pimping your stuff.......metro homos....bahhaaahahaha

Your dealer has 16 brands ? awesome....he is a good bloke too but you as a "teamrider" don't help him by coming on here and bleating crap all over the place with an opinion on everything.....

If you want to help your dealer sell more kites- don't bag or pimp just go to the beach and be a good bloke- sad thing is that is what you are at the beach, a funny good bloke- but you get on here half pissed late at night and spout crap and people get their backs up. Then when all those metro homos come up for the Whyalla comp they will associate you with what they know from the forums...

Back on Ben Wilson- I heard he got booted from Slingshot for their new teamrider- Keep an eye out for Chris "gimme some butter chicken" Jordan- his own pro model will be out soon and comes with a free 10"by4" glossy of his face.

Tomy take the time to read, i didn't bag or pimp anything. And if i can only give my opinion on what i have ridden then why are you getting your back up as i have already stated i own and ride SS kites i still have 2 in my quiver and probaly wouldn't get rid of them. I think you guys are jumping the gun but if this is the way you want to play..... well lets play[}:)]

I expect to hear more from your metro homo gangbanger mates because that is the way you guys roll.

There is little funnier than a white guy from Oz using black American vernacular IMO.. but that's just how I roll.

Let it go fellas. Opinions don't have to be taken as iron clad statements of facts, just as freckles don't have to be accepted as the only source of sunlight on the planet.

Right above this post is the Slingshot Banner with Bens pic on it. WTF

Why do SS continue to use his image when he is no longer one of their riders.
They haven't even taken his profile off the international website. Maybe they don't know how to do it.

I guess it great free promo for BEN

The kites look cool all black BUT
Black kites get hotter in the sun. not something I want
I will just have to go for the gay euro colours
Or keep riding my basic single colour generators not black or gay

I like black kites, but black and white?
I have had a bad experience with black die running on one of my kites when i packed it wet. At least the white bit is only small and wouldn't look bad if it did get discoloured.
