Cmon fellas, its meant to be an extreme sport and blowing your kite up with one of these imo doesn't do it justice, I bet you guys are the type that play golf driving a buggy, or fish with one of those electric fishing reels, or play bowls with one of them ramps for your bowls so you don't have to bend, don't get old before your time

After reading through this thread, I decided to head over to Bunnings and pick up the new Ryobi air compressor just to see what it can do. I already had the battery/charging station, so for $70 it wasn't that much of a risk. On top of that, if I didn't find it useful I was planning just to return it regardless.

I tested it out in the garage pumping up a 13 meter kite. Unfortunately it's not a one-pump, so I only tested it on the leading edge. It took just under 60 seconds to pump up the bladder until it had a tiny bit of stiffness. Here is the catch however... The high pressure pump is located on one side of the unit, and the high volume is on the other (each have their own hose). After the bladder had a bit of pressure, I switched it over to the high pressure side and set the PSI. After about 3 minutes, the kite was fully pumped up and ready to go.

The downside - of using this pump system is that you have to switch it over to the high pressure hose. Also, the high volume hose is VERY flimsy. I can't see it lasting more than a couple of trips to the beach and it appears to be it's own proprietary size/fitting on the non-kite attachment side. It still would be pretty easy to modify the hose and attach a new more robust fitting.

The upside - Although I didn't have a one-pump system to try this on, I would guess it would take no more than 6-7 minutes to fully inflate a 13 meter kite (not taking into account the time it takes to switch from the high volume to high pressure hose. Also, for what this system is, it's much lighter than I would have expected. Much of it has to do with the powerful compact Lipo battery.

At the moment, I'm undecided about keeping the unit. I'll give it a few days and maybe one more test before making a decision.
