This kind of news sickens me - 2 weeks ago some similar low life broke into my garage and stole about $5000 worth of motorbike gear from me - 1 piece leathers, helmets, gloves, jackets, safety gear etc.

To get to the motorbike gear, to my amazement they had to lift my kites and boards out of the way - not one of them got taken, just the bike gear, so I guess I have something to be "thankful" for.

I do not hold any hope of my gear being returned or the cops finding who did it, but I would have hoped that if they were caught, they would be fined more than $3200 bucks and locked up, but this news coupled with the recent theft has just dropped my faith in society even further!

I would love to respond to that, but I am aware that kiddies read these forums.

Regarding the piss weak judicial system: There are plenty of "strong" systems all over the world. Some are based on the Sharia, some on dictatorships, etc. and I don't think they are doing a better job.

The "weakness" of civilized systems is that they sometimes let people go with a slap on the wrist if they are caught the first time. Repeat offenders typically don't get a soft treatment. If you put a first time offender who has committed a relatively minor offence (like theft) into jail and he loses his job and gets a criminal record guess what will happen. He will meet people he should not hang out with, never get a job again and steal for a living because he has no other option.

If he learns from this and gets a regular income and family (something to lose) he will most likely not steal again.

I really understand that people are upset - Btw I hope the guy who stole my bike last year has a bad accident with it - but I don't think a lynch mob is the correct approach.

I'm sorry but;

a. what makes you think I have euro trash genes in my family tree.

b. if the judicial system hardened up a bit thieving pricks would be locked up forever. Why is (stealing) a minor offence? It's a simple concept - if it's not yours leave it alone. I'm sick and tired of people trying to justify people who feel it's ok to do the wrong thing without any consequences.

c. my dog really hates do gooder euro's who want to get in touch with their oh but - "like i know it's not your fault that you're a thieving **** low life criminal, come and live with me cause your rehabilitated now aren't you" attitude give me a break.

A. Just an educated guess. In my experience 9/10 times comments like "I hate Euros because (enter ludicrous reasoning here)" are uttered by Caucasian Australians which strangely enough are of European descent. I sincerely apologize if you are Aboriginal and I would probably understand why you feel that way.

B. If the judicial system would lock up thieves forever the cost would go through the roof and your taxes would rise massively. Do you really want to pay more of your hard earned cash to lock these people up? That is the reason why only people get locked up who are a danger to society or are just not getting the message and commit offences over and over again.

C. Your dog should read more history books about European countries and about how devastating the "strong" political systems have been in the past. I suggest your dog reads about the German presidential election 1933 where a strong system has been elected by people who wanted strong laws. By the time they noticed what they had unleashed it was already too late and I assume you know how the story ends. That's mainly why we now have human but piss weak judicial systems...because we are not animals and we can learn from past mistakes.

D. Now I understand...never mind.

Has anyone considered National Service for a minimum of 1 year. For anyone that has done military service the first three months would definitely sort out there discipline issues.

If they didn't realise by then they would be introduced to the Military justice system where the idea of learning more criminal behaviour would virtually be impossible.
After reading the article it did mention drug paraphernalia which in my mind he's a drug addict supporting a habit which needs treatment. No better place to clean them up.

It's a tough one.

On the one hand, I would like lowlife like these put into a chaff bag and thrown into the sea.

On the other hand, having their names in this thread along side comments threatening abuse exposes not only the individual members but also Laurie to some pretty nasty legal stuff.

That's why their names and photos were removed.
