i plane to buy a boat as a first owner ,2007 Bayliner Discovery 192 sports cabin 5.89m Hull 2.41m, fibreglass
Engine V4 Mercruiser 135hp with 80hr on the clock.
mainly i'm chasing travel to rotto and overnight tours and offshore fishing. with my budget i still could able to stick with this boat because of the condition and the size .


please advise me how does it fit in to my requirements

Fishing requires that your boat will get blood and sh!t all over it, then there is the squid ink . I almost went down that path, glad now I didn't.
Get an ali with a 4 stroke, a small cab will allow for overnighters , make sure it has a deckwash!. The 4strokes these days are exceptionaly economical. I have a 115 Honda it has done 1290 hours, and NEVER missed a beat in the 7 years I have had it.

As a first owner think long and hard about the reality of the above mentioned boat.

If I was given a Bayliner as you have mentioned, it would be Swapped for a FISHING boat


The boat looks nice, but not what what I would use to fish on.

Thanks for the plug. But i think you saw the Cruise Craft I normally really only like to sell Aussie built offshore rigs so Dilanrosa you might not like my answer

Paddymac not so many cats mostly due to cost issues. They are alot more expensive and the especially in WA we don't really get the same needs as say the East coast of Aus. Bar crossings, travel through surf were stability is a big issue.

The 135 Mercruiser Motor is an inline 4 cylinder. Because it is not a cross flow motor, it has one manifold for both exhaust and inlet. They have big issues with internal corrosion which will lead to the engine ingesting water. Unless it has been fitted with a heat exchanger and closed cooling system. Ask me how I know. It really is best kept in freshwater with a shoreline in every direction. You would be best to get an outboard for offshore work. Older Bayliners had some major issues with timber stringers and transoms rotting out as well. Best to look for an all glass boat. The older Haines Hunter 17 footers are great boats fitted with a newer four stroke outboard. My 2 cents worth.

Not always, I actually bought my boat from jbshack , 7 years ago, and apart from rewiring the deck wash , and servicing each year, I haven't spent a penny on repairs.

Previous boat was a 18ft Pacemaker (great sea boat) with a 90 2stroke evinrude on it , same as present boat, NO breakdowns, NO extra costs other than regular servicing. Maybe I'm just lucky
Mates up here with boats (Exmouth) will say the same about theirs as well.
Most good quality outboards , if looked after will not cost any more than your car to run and maintain.
Talk to jbshack he will point you in the right direction.

This is true if you're buying an old bunky.
If you've got a 30k budget you'll get something quite decent which won't require expensive repairs but just general maintainance.
Buy wisely, keep it well maintained, seviced etc and it will cost you about the same as a car to maintain.
My suggestions if you want a general all round boat for fishing, rotto etc would be something like these...

Yeah jb I'm serious, the boat is a 6mtr Quintrex, didn't do a trade on it.
Never lived in the hills , were in Manduah at the time. I remember something about the previous owner using it to catch aquarium fish ?
had 600 hrs on the motor, and never misses a beat. now pushing 1300, and just like new
