Ah Nimbyism at its best.

Fracking is a standard process in the water supply and oil/gas industry. First time I came across it was near Dunsborough when Water Corp was putting in new bores into Yarragadee about 10 years ago.

From what I understand, CSG is water production and reinjection with gas separation.

Now if you lads dont want this in your backyard, then well and good. But why stop there. You all use oil and gas - it is all pervasive in our society. You cannot live without oil or gas. Stop it all everywhere?

Seek safety approvals, but unless you are completely going to individually stop using fossill fuels, then sorry....

I had to laugh at the references to "Gasland" the movie. Rule number 1 never believe all of what you read and see on TV or movies.
The tap with the gas that lights up ay Fort Lupton has always had gas in it. A natural occurance in many places. The owner admitted this after the movie was released. Most of what is stated in Gasland has been proven incorrect.
I bet you guys loved the movie Paranormal Activity.
Here is a bit of evidence from the other side http://www.bowenergy.com.au/downloads/csg_fact_sheets/APPEA%20CSG%20fact%20sheets_Gasland.pdf

And the talk about chemical use by fracking, farmers would never think of using chemicals in their activities would they.

Here we are sitting behind our computers wasting power and complaining about it.

the argument that whatever has happened in the past with regard to any industry whether it be procedures , safety or environment policies should be sufficient for future needs is a little simplistic. to discount current knowledge and understanding of environmental needs is like sticking one's head up one's arse, there is sufficient evidence around to suggest that there are some serious problems surrounding this form of exploration and until those concerns are understood and procedures in place there should be a moratorium in place, there are 40,000 drill sites in QLD alone, if by showing concern means being called a "nimbyist" then so be it

with you on this Oka , " thats how it,s done" is not a good enough reason.

we have, time and time again shown how we can ruin this earth.

and we are running out of chances.

we need to get smarter .

to survive.

I guess unsubstantiated water bores being drilled by every farmer and his dog to get water from the underlying aquifer has nothing to do with them drilling though into the gas cap......oops....but it must be thoise pesky companies which can make lots of money all of a sudden drilling in totally different areas and different gas zones, fracturing the seams with a solution of around 96% water 2 % salt and 2% pool chemicals that are to blame.

The big problem with all of this is education and the media spin for a story. Yes there are some crappy players in the field as well as many professionals. Govermental regulation would fix that but then they would have to cut into the projected royaltiesand resource rent tax to set up a system.....blah blah blah
