First up congrats to the very lucky winner of the cocos trip!
However does any body else think its a bit strange that the winning cell was also the most popular?

Forgive my lack of observational awareness but H4 was not that blatantly obvious.
K4 my choice seemed very obvious.

I suppose that's why I didn't win the trip.
However we all are winners in different ways.

Looking forward to next years comp.

It is an interesting result - those who picked the winning area can you tell us why? I'm curious.... If the missing guy was in the background he could have been pretty much anywhere. What indicated that area when Lozza's photoshopping is so damn good?

Wondering how so many people got it right

im sure there are programs out there that can detect a photo shopped area, and i think there is a little bit of underhand going on here

How'd the winner get chosen out of the 34 correct guesses?

Just askin as it wasn't specified on the result page.

Congrats to the winner, you lucky bugger!

There is, but I ran the previous comp pic thru one and nothing came up - the propellorheads at Seabreeze do a good job and all that trickery detection stuff doesn't work.

there was a few pics on the zephyr website. In the gallery there was pics that made guessing easier. Thats how i made my selection. I got the right number but not the letter.

It was definitely flawed. But with a prize like that who wouldnt want a little bit of an advantage.

^^^ if that is the case, then that is a little disappointing.
Pics taken at same time / area are on a website so you know he is in the background somewhere.

BUT top marks for seabreeze running awesome comps, you get a lot of good comps on overseas websites but you can't enter,
nice to have something good for the aussies

^ well if thats the case then I think the 2nd kiter should be photoshopped in randomly, rather than photoshopped out. (if you know what I mean), this would make the competition be based purely on luck, rather than people gaining an unfair advantage or by finding the picture online.

Just an idea

perhaps a few people did the same as me

ie google kitesurfing coco islands - image search.

www.google.com.au/search?q=kitesurfing+coco+islands&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=RWq4T4vVHKmViAfe69D6CA&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CFEQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=886

couple of pics her gave some clues..... I was close but not right.

Yeah like this:

Versus this:

Same dude, same day, maybe taken only a few seconds apart (at least within the same session).

I assumed the pic was only ever in the possession of Lozza's mate who is sworn to secrecy etc, not from a series of pics
available on the comp sponsor's website

Top marks to those who googled it. Maybe I should not assume lol

Ha, keep the competitions coming Laurie, we love it!!! - I will admit though that I am now confused at what the alleged "cheating" is - (1) running the photo through a Photshop de-scrambler looking for an anomaly or (2) Googling "kitesurfing Cocos Islands" ???

Maybe to even it up for us poleys the next competition could be "Spot the delamination" and involve some secret photos of a Drops Formula board.... - at least that way every cell would be a winner

Laurie covered this in another thread. If multiple guess right then they all go into a randomizer (?) and lucky dip from there

For the record I'm the lucky bugger in question. Mark above was sorta right in how I guessed the spot so here's my winning secret. I went to the ZKT site and checked through the galleries on their site. The manta ray crossing ones (other than looking awesome! - http://www.zephyrkitetours.com/crossing.htm) had one that sorta looked like it was taken before the one in the comp (with another kiter in the top left - no need to google for the pic posted above, it's right there on their page.) and so I took a stab at guessing where in the top left the kiter would be when the kite/camera moved round. Also looked through the other peoples guesses and noticed quite a few around the same area so thought I might be in the right range if others were thinking that way too.

Thanks go to Laurie and ZKT for running the comp. Have never been on a kiting holiday before so am stoked!

Could be time to act on rule 17......

17. Seabreeze.com.au, like the Tax Department, reserves the right to update these rules to account for smarty-pants people who try and work the system to their own advantage.

Not cheating, you just have to think outside the box Doggie, I did the same thing but didn't look through the gallery hard enough.

Technological age...

If they can't police it, then its open for all.

Equal oportunities for everyone to google it, run it through image filters etc....

Hence, not cheating...

I was just too dumb to think of it and took a wild guess....

Yeah, unfortunately, that would be the case....

It is down to the fact that they can't police what people do... so it is then open to all to do it....

I agree that this is a wought... but it is the only "fair" way that it can occur.... eg. If they said, no filters, no google searchs and then its only the honest people that dont do this...

The way to prevent this is to take a unique photo and then cover a section of it and then guess whats underneath... such as the colour of the kiteboarders polka dot boardies....

Sorry mate, I agree that its a bit rough on us less technologically minded and honest but they can't rely on people doing the honest things so they open it up to everyone....

hmmm, what would Chuck Norris do?

I think he would roundhouse kick the lot of yer...

At least 40 something peeps were on the spot (I was not one of them) so there was still an element of luck with the randomizer and no certainty of wining for any individual.

The sponsor has kindly donated the prize in some form, if they have some similar photo on their website, then that is more people visiting their website, which is sort of the point for them I guess.

Good luck to Azza have a great time.

I think it's great to have comps, and this type is better than a random draw in my view.
