Happy shark! Check out that cheesey grin! Is that how you knew it wasn't going to nom nom nom your leg?
They do have a nice smile... most idiots like to show photos of their top jaw dislocated and their teeth out, when in reality they're 99.9% smiles.
These sharks were playful/curious with no intention of aggression. I have seen more aggressive sharks, but they're in and out of the area fast and just looking for a feed before they die of starvation.
Once they've had a feed, they're like a stray dog you can even play with them.
WA had a high incident level this year bcos the South was super farking cold (more global warming?), and the poor sharks had to travel 1000's of km looking for food... when the ones that didn't starving to death reached the West coast they were in serious need of something to eat.
What would you do if your choices were:
1.- Freeze or starve to death
2.- Travel 1000's km in the hope of finding food and at least warmer weather
Remember sharks like most other marine animals get their water from their food.
Any attack on another species is out of pure necessity, or curiosity of a bobbing splashing thing in the water that isn't responding to his/her overtures.
So when a shark isn't in desperate need and you're not acting like a lure... nothing to fear, except fear itself.
I just wish there were more of these beautiful fish around
