With all due respect the request was for a "credible ' mainstream' reported reason as to how and why the building fell.
The only credible reason I have seen reported was in an interview with Larry Silverstein, the buildings 99 year landlord, who said, on camera, that they "pulled" it which means that it was wired for demolition.
