IT has circled the Earth for a year at 27,000km/h on a top secret mission.

Now the US Air Force's unmanned space plane, the experimental Boeing X37-B, will land in June - ending its mission in orbit.

At launch, the craft was accompanied by staff in biohazard suits, leading to speculation there were radioactive components on board, The Daily Mail reports.

The plane resembles a mini space shuttle and is the second to fly in space.

It was meant to land in March, but the mission of the X-37B orbital test vehicle was extended for unknown reasons.

The first one landed in December at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California after more than seven months in orbit.

The 8.8m, solar-powered craft had an original mission of 270 days.

If staff were in biohazard suits, wouldn't you speculate there were biohazards on board?

It's so obvious. "They" haven't had the successes they expected by spraying chemicals over the population at 37,000 feet, so they are going to try spraying chemicals even higher in the atmosphere now. Into orbit even. So they won't blow away.

I will take a punt - it is so obviously a replacement for the space shuttle that it is just a test.
But the conspiracy theorists have not yet found something totally outlandish to claim, so thus far they are silent.
But it will come.........

I reckon it secretly carried the big ray gun that was going to explode the asteroid thing that was supposed to destroy the earth in Oct 2011 (remember the non - elliptical orbit stuff? ). We are still here so it expoded the asteroid successfully

One of the biggest problems for LEO satellites is they follow a path, they're easy to track, and most important countries know when they're coming.

Normal LEO satellites can be moved around a little but they carry very little propellant.
The x-37 is refuel-able (that's why they wear the suits), it's easily upgraded, it has a proportionally large component bay, and it's really hard to track.

I got all the way through the wikipedia stuff and saw the last photo , realized that it is a little bubby of a thing. I recon there are people with sheds that could put one together and stick it up there, i reckon i could with 301 mill!!!!

This actually rings a bell. I read about this last year. Some amateur astronomers were trying to find it. For some reason I recall a Japanese guy discovering that the satellite he was watching didn't return next time around, or something. It was proposed that it was a maneuverable spy satellite.

But why keep that a secret?
