Problem with that argument is that when all other sources of energy are closed down they cease to cause damage, ie they become inert.
Nuclear, not so much.

A fair point - certainly as things stand now.
Even more reason to invest in Gen IV reactor tech and fusion - the waste problem is hugely diminished
