About the Brisbane episode - never heard what happened to the bogan after he turned himself in ??

Sadly id bet almost nothing

I have been told that the cops took him to court charged with aggravated assault and no traffic charges. The guy had been involved in 5 other road rage incidents including against women.

Was told that he received a warning. WTF

How terrifying.Hate to imagine what could have happened.
I think in the whole scheme of things its not a big deal ( for the cops ) even if you held him I doubt he would be charged with anything.
The range of excuses for a situation like that would be huge...I thought it was my mate waiting for me...etc etc.

I lock my car doors if I feel unsafe but by the sounds of things you had no reason to feel threatened.
Maybe you subconsciously new it was unsafe as when I have my eyes on the iphone its like I have blinkers on

Tonight for the first time I was almost carjacked.

I went to Bribie Island to see a friend tonight with the baby and wife. I got a little lost so I pulled over in front of a small shopping center to stare at the phone for directions. Very well lit up area, late night shopping so alot of cars in the car park. Within 10 seconds I noticed A tall dark male in a black hoodie walking towards the car, did not give it much thought as I never have before. 10-15 more later and now I see he is close, next thing he runs the last 5meters straight at the car grabbed hold of the rear passenger door where 7month old baby is sleeping and I just nailed it. Hearing the door handle and a fxxk as I tore off.
Now I drive a decked out 80 series TD. I am obviously not some little old lady driving. About 100mt down the road and the wife saying I did not even see him till you drove off. Did a uey and parked opposite the area (now with locked doors) and called the cops, he walked back into S.C.

Nothing came of it and I drove off before the police turned up. Both of us will lock our car doors everytime we get in the car. So freaky especially with bubs in the car, a life changing moment yet such a small thing.

That's funny. I was in a small shopping center carpark the other night after picking up a present for my mum. My wife, who drives a car exactly like yours, was coming by to pick me up, with her sister as shotgun.

I saw them pull up, but at a distance from where I was standing. They like to play that game where they speed off as I get to the door so I sprinted the last 5 meters. Only this time when they drove off they parked far opposite me and just sat there.

Sick of their childish games I walked back into the warmth of the shopping centre. When I walked back out they had gone.

Then I got arrested.

^^^ OTOH I met someone years ago, family friends of an ex of mine, who were fairly rich in Port Moresby, owned the biggest store/chain apparently, maybe. Made enough to buy a Lambo when they came back here. They lived behind a razor wire fence. With dogs and guards with machine guns inside it at all times. With another razor wire fence inside that one to create a no man's land. And a safe room in the house. Just in case they got thru. Which happened. The story goes that left PNG after staring down the wrong end of a shotgun in the face.... for the 8th time.

(disclaimer: obviously, extreme case they were rich, PM is unlike most of PNG, etc etc)

Yep, have heard many of the "I knew a friend" stories. Complete load of exaggerated crap in the majority of cases. The only reason for anyone to have that sort of protection/fear is if they attract it - ie hold large amounts of cash/gold etc on a premises, and you would need the same protection anywhere.

PNG has it's issues, especially in the large cities (as anywhere) but not the picture most people paint. If someone has a regular problems here, they are doing something out of the ordinary.
