So I've recently started drinking coffee after buying the missus a nespresso machine for Mother's Day and I'm a little perplexed as to why some milks (and often the same brand/type one bottle will be fine the next nothing) don't froth up in the milk frother? Wtf if going on with that? I might have to speak with dr Karl.

Fresh is best. Three days on the date stamp makes a big difference.
Recently some brands started sealing their bottles with an internal foil membrane. Makes a big difference.

Just remember to put milk in first so you don't burn the beans with the water
The 90deg water.
After the beans were roasted FFS.

Coffee snobs are weird.

Black coffee tastes like poo. U seriously like the taste?
Nothing wrong with people drinking/eating things how they like them.

Different chemical reactions, one is using maillard reaction to give flavour to green beans that start out smelling like a cross between cut grass and old sneakers. They other is using heat and pressure to extract oils etc - you're not cooking the grinds into your cup, you're trying to coax the good stuff out without affecting them too much.

You can't get this out of a pod machine

I agree that some milk brands froth better than others but I think your prob could also be with your nespresso machine.

Get a proper set up - grind your own beans & enjoy a real coffee.

Milk is for babies.

Those Nespresso machines, and I'd go so far as to say any automatic machine, can't pour a good shot. You'd think this would lend itself really well to something replicated perfectly by a machine but it fails every time.

Those pods in the nespresso machines contain... who knows what? I suspect they even contain frothing agents to create a fake crema.

And the milk is even worse. They can't stretch milk like a person can. It comes out like a milk bubble bath.
I don't care how many thousands your automatic machine cost it sucks eggs.

To be fair they are "OK". If you're only after a caffeine hit and convenience and you like the Nespresso machines then who am I to judge?

But once you've had good coffee, and get used to it, drinking anything from an automatic machine is like drinking VB. Or Fosters.

/coffee snob.

That is a real coffee.

Yes, it's a little bitter without milk, but beer isn't exactly sweet either and you probably love beer. You get used to it.

How many of you coffee snobs eat chocolate? The raw type, not the adulterated sugar laden milk type, but the raw product?

^ It's very hard to find but I love it. Again; it's an acquired taste.

That said I have to admit I'm a sucker for that lindt stuff, particularly the chilli one. Chilli and chocolate were made for each other.

Best coffee in Australia. (Noosaville)

www.firstbatchcoffee.com.au/

Drinking quality coffee on a daily basis, does have its downsides however......

I just spend a week in Brissy, couldn't get a decent consistent coffee anywhere. Well not up to the same standard anyway!
